Chapter 587: She is Narrow-Minded
“Every family has its own demons,” Shopkeeper Zhou said, forcing a smile.
He was both surprised and frustrated by what he heard.
Qiao Xiaomai, a gold mine, had to endure all these things. Tsk.
“Shall we make milk candy now?” Xiaomai didn’t care about what Shopkeeper Zhou thought. Her previous pleasant remark was mere politeness. After fighting with her useless dad and stepmother for so many years, the notion of not airing one’s dirtyundry had long been trampled beneath her.
What could not be shared? She preferred frankness anyway.
Shopkeeper Zhou merely sighed. Upon hearing her words, he discarded his stray thoughts and said with a smile, “Okay, what ingredients do we need? I’ll have someone prepare them.”
So, thereafter, Xiaomai stayed in Zuixian Building to make milk candies, and Tong Sang went in pursuit of Zhu Hongyun.
An hourter, Tong Sang returned.
Xiaomai was waiting for him in the main hall of the Zuixian Building, toting a basket on her back.
Upon seeing him enter, Xiaomai put down the melon seeds in her hand, “How’d it go?”
She pulled out a handkerchief from her bosom and motioned him to wipe his sweat.
“I saw her return to Zhu Vige with my own eyes. She hired an ox-cart.”
Xiaomai raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, “Alright, let’s go home.”
“Okay.” Tong Sang responded, casually wiping the beads of sweat on his forehead and stuffing the handkerchief back into his pocket.
The two bid farewell to Shopkeeper Zhou and climbed onto the ox-cart together.
Once they had left Bailu Town and saw that there were no people on the road, Xiaomai immediately took a bowl of water out of her space, “Drink up.”
Tong Sang had been feeling weak all day. Despite resting half of the day, he had exhausted himself under the burning sun. During that time, not only his face had turned red, but his lips also became extremely pale.
It hurt her to see him like that.
That damned Zhu Hongyun!
Tong Sang took the bowl and emptied it in one gulp, “Another one please.”
After drinking two bowls of spiritual spring water, Tong Sang’s slightly flushed face returned to normal. With water droplets still hanging on his lips, Xiaomai looked at him, leaned forward, and nted a hearty kiss on his mouth. “You dummy.”
“Huh?” Tong Sang was startled by this sudden attack.
Even now, when there were no people around, isn’t such an action a bit too bold?
Seeing his reaction, Xiaomai gave him a gentle p, “I told you, you’re a fool. You really believe these people will appreciate your kindness?”
“Oh that.” Tong Sang regained hisposure andughed it off, “It’s just a small effort.”
Being family, you can’t always distinguish so clearly.
Since his strength was greater, he should exert more effort.
Seeing his carefree attitude, Xiaomai couldn’t help but roll her eyes, “I’m not as generous as you. If someone treats me badly, even if they end up being a beggar and me a richdy, I’ll still want to retaliate.”
She won’t let go of the past grievances just because she has be stronger.
“You’re already a richdy.” Tong Sangughed.
His attempt to distract her was weak. Xiaomai scoffed, “That’s true, you see how both Shopkeeper He and Zhou still calls me Miss Qiao.”
Technically, since she’s now married, she’s no longer a Miss and should be addressed as Lady Tong.
But between her and Tong Sang, she was the dominant one. So she’s just Xiaomai, not Lady Tong.
“So I’ll really be working for you in the future. Please provide for me,” Tong Sang joked.
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely provide for you.” Xiaomai patted his shoulder and then leaned on him, umbre in hand, “Let’s go home and see what grandpa has to say.”@@novelbin@@
