    "Yeah. Your mom headed over there to handle something. She will be back once she''s done."


    "Oh... She''s not in any danger, though, is she?" La asked.


    "Probably not. Your brother and Mike will be there in Bridgedale to take care of her once she arrives


    in Bridgedale."


    "Okay! Let''s go to Ms. Kennedy''s apartment to finish my homework, then! She told me that she has


    a meeting earlier this afternoon and will get off work a littleter. She handed me her keys and told


    me to go to her ce first."


    The two headed to Leah''s apartment, and the bodyguard opened the door to find someone sitting


    on the couch.


    It was someone they knew.


    Natalie''s aunt had asked her to visit Leah at her apartment to check in on her, and Natalie had not


    expected to see La and Elliot''s bodyguard there.


    La turned heels without hesitation, wanting to leave as soon as she spotted Natalie, but the


    bodyguard stopped her.


    They had not ruled out the possibility that Natalie might have something to do with Elliot''s


    disappearance, so she still could be involved.


    "What a coincidence, Ms. Jennings." The bodyguard took La''s hand and went inside, closing the


    door behind him.


    Natalie was clearly ufortable with their presence. She managed to force a smile after a few


    tries and said, "It''s been a while, La.”


    La pretended like she did not hear a thing and went into the study room to work on her


    homework.


    The look on Natalie''s face froze at how rude La was acting.


    "Ms. Jennings, La has been like that ever since the incident with my boss. You don''t need to


    mind her," the bodyguard said, bringing up the subject of Elliot''s disappearance.


    "Yeah, I can understand. I''m sad that something happened to Elliot, too. I wanted to visit, but I


    refrained from doing so because I know Avery and La hate me," she responded calmly. "By the


    way, why do you have the keys to my cousin''s apartment? Did she give them to you?"


    "Yes. She''s tutoring La every night. Don''t you know, Ms. Jennings?" "I do, but I thought she was


    doing that at school. I didn''t think she would be tutoring La in her own apartment." Natalie was

    "Ms. Jennings, do you think that La and I are bad people that your cousin should be alert


    around?"


    "I didn''t say that." Natalie''s expression darkened as she grabbed her purse and strode toward the


    door.


    When she opened the door, she ran into Leah, who had just gotten home from work.


    "Leah, what''s wrong with you? You can tutor La, but why would you invite them to your


    apartment? Are you trying to gain some benefits by associating yourself with the Fosters?" Natalie


    shut the door, but her voice could still be heard inside the apartment. "The Fosters have lost their


    glory! Now that Elliot is dead, they have no one left to lead them, and here you are kissing their


    boots. Are you mad? Did you not listen to a word I said to you before?"


    "Cousin, I thought you said that Elliot Foster is just missing?" Leah flushed and said, "and now you


    are saying he''s dead. Is he dead?"


    Natalie took a deep breath and lowered her voice. "He is dead if I say he is! Go back inside and


    chase those two out!"


    Before she could finish, the door flew open...
