Chapter 95
Chapter 95 Internal Turmoil in the Johnson Family
When Cedric returned to the Johnson Manor, his eldest granduncle, Andrew Johnson, and second
granduncle, Benjamin Johnson, were already there.
There were also two of his other rtives there, Hector Johnson and Samuel Johnson. They were from
Andrew’s side of the family.
His third granduncle, Colin Johnson, and his family were absent as they were still abroad.
Had they been in Verde City, they would likely have attended the gathering as well.
It’s unclear what was discussed before Cedric’s return, but the atmosphere was tense. Elizabeth and
Reba wore somber expressions, and even Christina looked distressed.
“So, you finally decided to grace us with your presence,” Benjamin sneered, his gaze full of disdain as
he
regarded his grandnephew.
Cedric gave a cold, sweeping look and showed no sign of deference!
“Why such a grand reception?”
It wasn’t the first time they had such a gathering in the Johnson family.
The members of the Johnson family were notorious for their power struggles, and they could go to
great lengths to secure their positions.
Benjamin took a sip of tea and put his cup down. He didn’t say anything, but Hector, who was s beside
him, said, “You think this is grand?
sitting
“Do you know what our family has been going throughtely? Even in overseas, life hasn’t been easy!”
Verde City’s public opinion has a significant impact. But when ites to believing that this influence
has reached overseas, Cedric was skeptical.
After all, this is just a family matter, not an international one!
His cold gaze, which was on Hector, turned even colder at the other man’s words!
Reba couldn’t bear it any longer. She said irritatedly. “Isn’t it normal for there to be some issues
among these wealthy families? And the recent rumors haven’t really affected the business, have they?
You want to wait until it affects our businesses?” Andrew retorted sterly, giving Reba a scolding
nce
Reba was younger than him, and her words irked Andrew!
In response, Andrew turned to Elizabeth and said sarcastically, “My dear sister, is this how you raise
your daughter–inw? I can see how well she turned out!”
“You…”
Cedric’s eyes darkened further. Despite their advanced age, these people couldn’t help but vie for
control
within the family.
Even in a dire situation, they couldn’t let go of their pursuit of family inheritance rights.
Yes, he understood very well why they hade to visit today!
After so many years of struggle, they still refused to relinquish their ims.
Elizabeth shot a disapproving look at Reba.
“How can you speak to your uncle like this?”
Although she reprimanded Reba, it was more of a symbolic gesture!
Reba mmed her teacup forcefully onto the table, making it clear that she didn’t wee these
people. Their intentions for visiting were obvious, so they wouldn’t speak much with Reba
Their gaze shifted to Cedric.
“Wasn’t the eastern suburbs project always meant to be ours? How did we lose it so miserably?”
Cedric remained silent.
“We have strong doubts about your ability to manage thepany right now!”
When talking about the eastern suburbs, their tone was full of dissatisfaction.
But when Reba heard the word, she was even more infuriated.
Why did they lose?
ConTEent bel0ngs to N?v(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
It was all because of Natalie!
That damn
She should have kicked her out of the Johrison family a long time ago!
Reba had underestimated Natulie in the past, thinking she was just a weak and fragile woman
However, the more Reba thought about it, the angrier she became!
“The impact on thepany is inconsequential, Cedric replied coolly. “Also, whether I manage the
company well or not is none of your concern. I’m the heir to this family. If you’re not happy with that,
feel free to dere your separation from the Johnson family. It’s of no consequence to me.”
Cedric’s indifference made it clear that their opinions didn’t sway him.
However, Cedric’s response only served to infuriate everyone present. They had initially intended to
use
the eastern suburbs project to pressure him into relinquishing his inheritance rights.
They had not anticipated his strong stance on the matter!
“You should be the one who has no connection to our family!” Samuel, who had remained silent until
then, angrily retorted to Cedric.
Cedric’s grandfather, Desmond Johnson, had been the youngest of his siblings. Cedric’s family had
controlled the Johnson family for many years, starting with his grandfather, then his father, and now
him.
It seemed they were determined to allow no opportunities for other branches of the family.
Cedric turned to Christina. “Call in the security team.”
He spoke in a calm tone, but the underlying message was clear to everyone in the room. Andrew and
Benjamin exchanged nces, evidently unprepared for Cedric’s apparentck of sympathy.
“Alright, that’s enough! We’re family, aren’t we? Why are we talking to each other like this?! Andrew
said as he red at Samuel and Hector.
It had only been a short three years, but Cedric had clearly changed into apletely different person.
The air around him was also different.
They understood that continuing to provoke Cedric from the outset would not benefit them in any way.
So, Andrew said, “Since we’ve lost a project, we should quickly find a recement. Thend beside
Dragon Park can be developed into a good project.”
Speaking of thend beside Dragon Park, it was also one Cedric now held in high regard.
It was clear that the Johnson family members had a simr sense of vision.
Don’t lose the project this time, or thepany will incur significant losses. No matter howrge the
usiness is, it can’t withstand such recklessness.
See them out! Cedric said to Christine as he stood. He didn’t even spare a nce at the others in the
Christina desperately wished she could disappear right now, but she was obedient when it came to
Cedric.
However, she found it difficult to raise her head in front of the Johnson family members, regardless of
the
persona she portrayed in front of Natalie.
“Uncles, this way, please,” Christina nervously said.
Herplexion wasn’t great, clearly indicating that she was struggling.
Andrew and Benjamin felt slighted by Cedric’s indifference as he ignored thempletely, and their
expressions turned unpleasant. Naturally, this didn’t bode well for Christina.
“So the adopted daughter has grown so big, huh? If I didn’t know she was adopted, I wouldn’t have
been. able to tell she wasn’t biologically yours!”
This statement was a subtle insult meant to taunt Reba.
Reba’s face turned ashen with anger.
If it weren’t for Elizabeth holding her wrist, she might have gotten into a heated argument with them!
Back then, her health had been bad and caused her to be unable to bear children again.
These people had made countless sarcastic remarks about her when that happened.
There were certain things one could brush off, but some people had no filter when it came to their
words!
In fact, when she adopted Christina, Reba had always hoped that Christina wouldn’t find out about
her true parentage.
But with such gossipy people around, it was hard to keep it a secret!
“Please leave!” Reba’s tone was curt, devoid of any respect.
Andrew and Benjamin coldly snorted and left.
Once they were gone, Christina turned resentful eyes to Reba and said, “Mom, look at them! What
kind of people are they?”
Tina! Elizabeth berated her before Reba could speak.
Elizabeth was a traditional woman. Despite having a somewhat strained rtionship with her extended
family, she highly valued the education of her younger generations and didn’t want Christina to behave
This way
Christina was already feeling resentful, and now her eyes were filled with tears.
Reba was initially upset, but when she saw Christina’s emotional state, she couldn’t help but feel
“It’s alright, sweetie. Why bother arguing with people like them? It serves them right for being this way
their whole lives.”
She was referring to those people, who, despite appearing authoritative, hadn’t had an easy time
during
their years abroad!
With Reba’sforting words, Christina started to feel better. In the end, Reba truly cared for
her. However, the fact that she wasn’t Reba’s biological child was like a thorn in Christina’s heart.
“I’ll go upstairs and check on him,” Reba said.
It had been a long time since Cedric had returned. Now that he was divorced from Natalie, Reba
hoped that he woulde back to live at home.
With him around, those people wouldn’t dare to show up unannounced.
