Chapter 2036

    Chapter 2036

As the saying goes, a brief separation makes a couple feel like honeymooners. After being separated for six years, the treatment I received had me sleeping soundly until the afternoon of the following day.

The room was restored to its original state. The beds were together once again, and I was still in my pajamas. Whatever happenedst night felt like a dream.

My back ached as I walked out of the bedroom with my hands on my waist. It was quiet in the corridor. I could see Anne and the others ying in the backyard through the window.

The two sisters were having a good time. Wynn and the housekeeper were under the shade and were ying on the micrputer, immersed in their own little world.

There were soundsing from the study. I decided to walk closer to it.

When I arrived at the door, I saw Hendrix and Aaron together in the room. They weren''t fighting, which was rare. They were looking at the painting of a beach view from Jordan''s art exhibition.

He had bought a frame for the painting and ced it in the center of the study. Aaron sat on the sofa next to him and would look up from time to time, but he was clearly uninterested in it.

Hendrix, however, paid very special attention to it. He stood in front of the frame with a solemn look on his face. asionally, his eyes would sharpen and sometimes, he would reach out his hand to touch the painting. It was as though he was trying to grasp the artist''s emotions as they were creating this artwork.

After a while, Hendrix saw me and his eyes glimmered, "You''re awake."

"Mmm," I entered the study and sat on the chair next to Aaron. I asked, "You insisted on buying this painting yesterday. Is there any special reason as to why?"

As I asked him this, I nced over at Aaron, eagerly waiting for an answer.

Aaron suddenly said somethingpletely unrted. "A person can never truly be separated from their roots. I should take this chance to speak with some of the elders when they''ve arrived."

He seemed to be speaking very nonchntly, but I could hear a trace of sadness in his voice.

After all, he had a family and a business, but he had to live apart from Emma for such a long time.

It was understandable that he''d feel depressed about it.

Hendrix didn''t react to that. "I think it''s fine. We''ll do as you say."

Bringing Emma and their daughter here might relieve Aaron of his depression and also ensure that he wouldn''t end up fighting with Hendrix all day long.

Aaron was excited to hear this. He took his mobile phone on the table and dialed a number as he walked out of the room. He then said to me, "Ask your man to exin all of this toyou."

My man? Did Aaron think that Hendrix didn''t deserve to be addressed by his own name?

I helplessly turned around to look at Hendrix. Fortunately, he didn''t take it personally. With a smile, he helped me up and together, we walked towards the painting.

Hendrix gently pinched my hand and ced it on the oil painting. The unevenyers of the pigments instantly came to life under my touch.

Perhaps it was because I wasn''t an artistic person. Even though I looked at the painting up-close, I didn''t feel anything from it. After a while, I brought my hand back and said awkwardly, "I''d appreciate it if you''d just tell me. As you already know, I''m not into art, so don''t pressure me for an

    answer."

Hendrix''s eyes narrowed. He turned around, took out a banknote and ced it on my hand, somewhat mysteriously.

I was sure he was ying a trick on me, so I teased him with a smile, "Do you want me to draw strength from money? Do you honestly think that''s possible?"

This was obviously just a joke, but

Hendrix responded with a serious tone. "It might be possible. Here, try it. You might understand the

    ve

emotions behind this painting right away." C0pyright ? 2024 N?v)(elDrama.Org.

Sensing the sneer in his tone and feeling somewhat tricked, I crumpled the banknote into a ball and was about to throw it at him.
