Chapter 1558
That was the most reassuring New Year that we''d ever had in these five years. So we spent a few
more days in Ucrebury and returned to Jarold City on the sixth day of the new year.
It was only when it was time for us to leave that Uncle Trent stepped out of the house with Anne in
his arms, teasing each other.
After the new year, Anne had gained some weight, and it was a little challenging for Uncle Trent to
carry her. He was panting at that moment. However, he did notin, but kept teasing Anne,
making her giggle.
"Uncle Trent, let me do it," Hendrix said. He was afraid that he would get exhausted, so he went
forward to carry Anne.
Uncle Trent was not willing to let go of the child immediately. He adjusted the scarf around Anne''s
neck. He then looked at Hendrix and me uneasily before he let out a sigh, passing Anne over to
Hendrix.
"Anne, when you go back, remember to call your granduncle more often. Got it?" Uncle Trent said.
He looked at Anne with a smile on his face.

"Got it, Granduncle!" Anne replied. She was an obedient girl, and her voice was sweet and
adorable. Aunt Nerissa and Aunt Kennedy started to tear up, and they pursed their lips to stop the
tears from falling.
If Monique knew that these elders loved Anne with all their hearts, she would be at ease.
Uncle Trent nodded while letting out a long sigh. He looked up at Hendrix and me. He then said
sincerely, "You both are tired of my nagging, so I won''t say anything more. Be careful and take good
care of the child. Remember to bring Arianna and Anne back to visit the inws. Otherwise, they''ll
think the Roberts are rude and uncourteous."
I smiled. Valerie and Pedro were not that petty. I exined to him, "It doesn''t matter. We live quite
close to each other and we can meet up whenever we want."
This was also why Hendrix and I had decided to spend this New Year in Ucrebury.
Compared to our rtives and friends, Uncle Trent and his family were rtively lonely. As we lived
quite far from him, we felt guilty that we couldn''t stay by his side. On the New Year, which was such
an ideal day for a family reunion, we would definitely be spending time visiting the Roberts Family.
Uncle Trent put on a long face and said, "Living close to someone has nothing to do with visiting on
asions. We can''t take these traditions left by our ancestors for granted. You are still too young!"
"Don''t worry, I''ll make sure we visit them," Hendrix said. He stepped forward to mediate the
awkward tension, and I could only stand by his side, like an obedient wife.
The tradition of human rtions, which hadsted thousands of years, was passed down from
generation to generation. To make itst, everyone needed to reciprocate. It was so precious that
the older generation was still holding onto these beliefs.
Uncle Trent lowered his head in satisfaction. For a moment, he didn''t say anything, and his
reluctance to part with Anne was obvious. The atmosphere suddenly turned bleak.
Suddenly, Aunt Kennedy''s voice rang out, "Alright, you won''t be able to catch the ne if you keep
dawdling. Go quickly."
After that, everyone cheered up again, urging us to get in the car.
After bidding farewell in a hurry, the driver started the car engine and drove us to the airport.
Through the rearview mirror, I could see Uncle Trent and the others standing under the tree, waving
at us from a distance. Their movements slowed down gradually and their figures slowly
disappeared. Watching that, I felt sorrow in my heart.
I could not recall which poet had once stated that life was full of farewells. Every reunion seemed to
be so precious after parting ways with someone you love countless times. However, we would
never know when the next reunion would be.
