Chapter 1224
The man was so badly beaten up that he begged for mercy, but it was useless. The brawny men
didn''t leave him alone until he was beaten half to death.
Hendrix watched coldly. The man on the ground struggled as he tried to get up. He tried several
times, but still failed to do so. Hence, he could only wriggle like a maggot on the ground.
He was in such a bad state that I couldn''t help but ask, "Hendrix, can we help him?"
Hendrix pursed his lips, not saying anything. Seeing that, I didn''t say anything more. After all, we
were at a casino, not somewhere else. It wasn''t the time for me to be kind-hearted.
We were going to leave. However, the man blocked our way. Hendrix had no choice but to stop the
car and looked at the man indifferently.
As we waited, the man seemed to have used up all his strength andy on the ground. Hendrix
narrowed his eyes and started the car. It was loud and strong, making me wonder if Hendrix would
just run the person over.
Surprisingly, once the man heard the sound of the engine, he got up from the ground as if he had
been injected with some sort of resurrection liquid. Then, hey on the front of the car with his
bloody and bruised face. He grinned at Hendrix and said, "It''s inappropriate to leave one to die, isn''t
it?"
I was taken aback. Did they know each other?
Hendrix looked at him without saying a word.

The manughed and said, "Since both of you have seen what happened, please be magnanimous
and send me to the hospital. My leg is broken; I can''t walk."
It was the first time I met someone who could talk about life and death so calmly.
Hendrix spat out a word, "Scram!"
The man shamelessly climbed to the top of the car and said like a rascal, "If you don''t take me to
the hospital, then we will be wasting time like this. My bad if I scared the beautifuldy beside you."
Hendrix''s face darkened. He started the car and drove it fiercely. The man did not hold tight and fell
off the car. Hendrix did not intend to stop driving at all. As he watched the man roll down the front of
the car, he continued driving with no expression on his face.
Fortunately, the man was quick enough to move out of the way to avoid death.
Cursing could be heard. "You''re crazy. If you run me over, that makes you a murderer."
The cursing faded as we drove away.
I was so anxious I felt cold sweat down my back. I looked at the shing lights outside to calm
down. I turned to look at Hendrix''s sullen face, and I couldn''t help but ask, "What was all that
about?"
The conversation between him and Kaleb was obviously what they had agreed on before. I had no
idea what they talked about, but he left me with Tobias, which was obviously a bet on whether
Tobias would help him or not.
He looked sideways at me and asked, "Are you afraid?"
I shook my head, and then nodded. The contradictory actions made himugh, easing the tense
atmosphere.
"Are you or are you not afraid?"
I thought for a moment and said, "I''m afraid, but not afraid. I''m afraid because I don''t know anything.
If something happens to you, I have no idea what to do. I''m not afraid because I know that you''re
confident in everything you do. You won''t put us in danger."
Driving the car, he said, "What if I say that I''m not confident in all of this?" His eyes were like
bottomless pools.
