Chapter 1178
Shirley understood this better than me. She knew that Irvin''s heart did not belong to her. She wasn''t
after his wealth like other women. All she ever wanted was his true love, and nothing else.
This was frustrating for Irvin. He wasn''t able to make up for thisck of love by giving her money.
Instead, it made him feel like he owed her too much. He would not be able to clear this debt unless
he paid it with true love.
I nodded, but when I looked at her haggard face, I felt a little distressed on her behalf.
After a pause, I just said, "I booked a flight to Jarold City tonight and I would need to go there more
frequently these days. If you need any help, you can look for my friend. I''ll send you her phone
number and contact information. If it''s inconvenient for you and the child to stay at the hospital, you
can go to my house. There is no one there so you can stay there for the time being."
She looked at me and said, "Thank you!" After a pause, she continued, "We could have been good
friends!"
This sentence made my heart clench in pain. I didn''t know how to react and finally I just smiled
faintly and said, "We''re fine as we are now too."
After all, life was full of ups and downs. Many situations were ephemeral and hard to predict...
After chatting with Shirley, I returned to Irvin''s ward. He was already asleep when I arrived and
Florence was watching over him. She greeted me when she saw me, and after I gave her some
instructions, I did not say anything else.

After packing up my belongings, I handed the items I prepared for Shirley to Florence. Then I took
my suitcase, exited the hospital and headed directly to the airport.
Naomi called. I was in the taxi, and she was somewhat angry, "Didn''t I say we should have a meal
together before the holidays? Why did you leave without informing me? Aren''t you being too
mean?"
I said apologetically, "I booked the ticket suddenly, so I didn''t have time to tell you. We can do it next
time. It''s not that I won''te to Asherton anymore. We can meet up before the National Day
holiday!"
She was silent for a few moments. Then, she said sarcastically, "Huh! You both are really crossing
the line. Clearly, this get- together is unimportant, so of course, we can dy it!"
I was stunned and I asked, "You both?"
She nodded, "Yes, you and Dahlia have agreed toe, but now both of you gave sudden excuses
that you can''t make it."
I merely said, "Okay". Then, I thought of Westin, and said, "Naomi, I will be away from Asherton for
a couple of days. Please remember the favor I asked of you earlier. Oh and about Westin... I
bumped into him in an alley and saw that he was behaving in an awkward manner. So I left him a
message and asked him to contact me if he needed any help. But I''ll not be around and may need
your help with that."
Over the phone, I could imagine her sulking. She said, "Alright. You are kind- hearted. People like
Westin, to put it bluntly, are at a dead end. Why do you have to get yourself involved to help them?"
I smiled and said, "Please, and thank you!"
She replied, "Alright!"
After hanging up, I realized that the taxi had arrived at the entrance of the airport. I alighted with my
suitcase and went to check in. When I was getting my ticket checked at the boarding gates, I
identally gazed upon a familiar face.
