    Chapter 488

I nodded, feeling exhausted and all out of energy. Perhaps it was because I spoke too much or that I

    was still too weak.

Seeing that fatigue hade knocking at my door, Kelsey advised, "You should rest in the hospital

today. Isn''t the banquet going on every night? You can only get the strength to fight back after a good

    rest."

I let out a long breath. Then, Iid in bed for the entire day.

I returned to Jarold City from Ucrebury in the afternoon the next day. Aaron came to pick me up at the

airport. When he noticed the dark circles under my eyes, he joked, "What happened to you in

Ucrebury? Did you see a ghost?"

I got in the car and nonchntly replied, "I was rushing, and I didn''t rest well!"

"After our dressing appointment, go get some rest at my ce. I''ll call you at night." He said as he

    started the car.

I looked at him and a faint smile couldn''t help but appear on my face.

Seeing that I was just smiling without saying anything, he frowned. "Why are you looking at me so

    terrifyingly?"

I retracted my gaze and asked, "Has anyone told you that you''re bing more and more like an

    older brother?"

He snorted and spoke unpleasantly, "Don''t say something against your will like that."

I stared out the window, feeling a little absentminded and responded in a somewhat melodious voice,

"Aaron, you and I are the only people left in Hovel I."

He paused for a moment and nced at me with a frown. "What do you mean?"

His eyes were focused on me as we reached the traffic junction.

My throat hurt a little, and my eyes were ufortably dry. "Monique''s gone!"

    "Gone?"

"Grandma and Monique are buried in a graveyard in Ucrebury. I wanted to bring them back to Hovell,

but now it seems that we can''t even go back anymore."

    The traffic light turned green.

However, an old man was walking extremely slowly across the zebra crossing.

The car behind us kept honking, but Aaron did not drive forward. Instead, he looked at the green light in

front of him and closed his eyes.

The sound of the honking persisted. Aaron got out of the car suddenly and shut the door irritably. I sat

startled for a moment before realizing what he was going to do. I instantly got out of the car in a hurry.

He walked to the side of the honking car and knocked on the driver''s window. The driver rolled down

his window and began scolding him impatiently, "You think you''re all that just because you drive a

    Bentley? You..."

The driver''s curses fell silent under Aaron''s murderous look.

Aaron pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows. Then, he fixed his cold eyes on the man''s face and

    yelled, "Get out!"

The man was confused and did not know what was going on. He suppressed his anger and retorted,

    "No, are you crazy?"

"I''m telling you to get out of the car!" Aaron exerted his strength and nearly ripped the car door open in

his fury. Then, he started dragging the plump man out of the car.

Once they were both out, he began throwing deathly punches at the man. The man was almost beaten

to a pulp when he looked up, saw Aaron''s handsome yet grim and twisted face, and started begging for

    mercy.

After venting his anger, Aaron threw a business card his way and yelled rather scornfully, "Don''t honk

like this in the city center next time. Otherwise, you''d get a lot more than just a beating."

Then, Aaron returned to the car and restarted the engine.

I sighed. "You didn''t have to be so... impulsive! You just had to bear with the noise for a bit and leave

after the old man gets past the zebra crossing. No need to stir up trouble."

He pursed his lips and kept silent. His mind was obviously elsewhere.

    "How did she die?"

I was stunned for a moment as I side-eyed him. He looked to be focused on driving after asking a

    seemingly casual question.

I answered, "Birthplications. The child survived, but she died of blood loss."

He frowned and asked, "Whose child is it?"
