Chapter 457

    Chapter 457

"You can choose not to believe me, but whatever it is, the quality of your daughter''s life is in your

    hands."

He pursed his lips and held his head with both hands, entangling his fingers into his hair and pulling on

it. It seemed that he was thinking, or struggling to make a decision.

After a long time, he looked up at me and said, "Okay, but I''ll need your word!"

This text is property of N?/velD/rama.Org.

    I nodded. "Fine with me!"

He hummed and was silent for a long time before saying, "Ucrebury, Century Garden Residence. Look

for my wife and tell her what happened to me. Ask that she brings the things I gave her and toe

    see me here."

I nodded. "Any other messages you want me to pass on to her?"

He shook his head and said no more.

After I left the prison, I looked up at the dark sky of Jarold City. It had been about a month since the sun

in Ucrebury emerged from the horizon.

The sky was always full of smog, and from time to time, rain would drizzle or snow would fall. The

    weather was quite frustratingly unpredictable.

However, spring woulde soon after the new year.

I raised my hand and nced at the time. I was right on time. I went straight to the restaurant that

    Charles had mentioned.

When I arrived, only Aaron was there. He stopped his car and saw that I had also arrived. He raised his

eyebrows and asked, "You''re here early."

    I shrugged. "As are you."

He smiled and said, "Uncle Charles asked me to order the food in advance. Master Miller will be here

in a moment. Remember to wee him properly, you can''t be rude." Interesting.

I went upstairs with him. After taking care of some things, we went straight into the private room.

The room had vintage interior designs. When we walked in, arge filigreed screen weed us which

gave the room an air of elegance and nobility.

Noticing that I was staring at the screen, Aaron said with a smile, "This restaurant is famous for its one

    of a kind decoration."

I nodded. That was certainly true. I found a seat and sat down. I guess I looked rather disinterested

because Aaron suddenly asked, "What happened with Michael?"

I then replied, "Get a reliable person to meet Michael''s wife at the Century Garden Residence in

Ucrebury. Tell her to bring the things that Michael gave her to Jarold City and meet him there."

His eyebrows arched, indicating that he understood the instructions. But he looked at me in confusion

and asked, "I thought you didn''t need him? Why did you go to the prison to see him?"

I held my chin and said dispiritedly, "I thought that it was too kind of me to let Valerie suffer so little. I''ve

decided that I want to ruin her reputation."

He frowned and narrowed his eyes. "Did Valerie go look for you again?"

I didn''t say anything, but my silence gave him the answer he was looking for.

He sighed, feeling a little helpless. "Arianna, have you ever thought of looking for your biological

    parents?"

I was startled. I didn''t expect that he would suddenly mention this. After thinking about it, I shook my

head. "No, it''s been years. They''ve wanted to discard me right from the start, which means that I''m not

very important to them. They may have given birth to me, but they never cared for me. I only need my

grandmother for the rest of my life. I don''t really give a d*mn about anything else."

Pursing his lips, he looked at me tentatively. "If you were to meet your biological parents one day,

would you acknowledge them as such?"

"Not a chance!" So much time had already passed; what was the point of doing that? The only reason

why they''d even look for their child was to atone for their sins and to make peace with their past

regrets. It would not be something done out of love. If they loved me, they would not have let me go in

    the first ce.

He paused for a while, not saying a thing.

With a hand on my chin, I thought about what Andrea had said that day. I was not worried, but since

everyone had fallen out, there were still some things that I should be careful of.

Seeing that I was in a daze, he raised his eyebrows. "A penny for your thoughts?"

"Aaron, people always say ''hit where it hurts''. Do you know what my Achilles heel is?"

If Andrea wanted to hurt me, I didn''t know what else she could think of aside from harming the people

    around me.

He was a little surprised by my question. After pondering for a while, he said, "I''m your Achilles'' heel, of

    course!"

I rolled my eyes at him. "Be serious!"

He shrugged. "Generally speaking, one''s Achilles heels are the things or people that they care the

most about. Think about what you care about the most. It may be status, reputation or power. What do

you possess? What do you care about? And what are you after?"

    I...

    The people I cared about?
