    Chapter 438

Andrea had started to get emotional. She looked at Hendrix and said, "Hendrix, if you choose to stay

by Arianna''s side to take care of her out of guilt, you''ll end up hurting her. You know love cannot be

forced. If you don''t love her, yet you stay with her for the rest of your life, you will suffer, and she will

    too!"

Hendrix turned his back to me, so I couldn''t see his expression clearly. I simply said with a faint sneer,

"Love can''t be forced, but we can still try. As for whether we''re happy or not, it doesn''t really matter.

What''s important is that as long as you''re not doing well, I think that''s enough to make me happy."

Hearing my voice, Hendrix turned around, his eyes narrowed, "You''ve finished washing up?"

I nodded, looked at him, and then shifted my gaze to Andrea. Then, I put on a smile and said, "You

guys are so energetic in the morning. Do you need to get rid of your excess energy? Shall I step aside

to make room for you two?"

Hendrix frowned and he seemed upset. "Arianna!" He called out, his voice echoed his threat.

I shrugged, but didn''t feel angry. I merely said, "Alright then, you two have a good talk. I''ll be leaving

    first."

However, before I go far, Hendrix grabbed my wrist, "Don''t get mad, okay?"

I pursed my lips, unhappy with how things were ying out.

I initially wanted to get mad at him, but as I saw him looking at Andrea coldly, I decided to say, "Miss

Burton, do you need me to see you out?"

These words carried with them a strong sense of hostility.

Andrea looked upset, and her face was pale. There was a crimson sheen in her eyes as she parted her

lips to say something. But when she saw Hendrix''s terrifyingly brooding expression, she stopped

herself. She just red at me with hatred and left the room.

Hendrix and I were left in the spacious bedroom. When he looked at me, he asked, "How long were

    you listening for?"

    I shrugged. "I don''t know!"

He curled his lips, "Did what I say make you angry?"

I said inly and as emotionless as I could, "My birthday has be the anniversary of my child''s

    death. It''s...it''s sad!"

Perhaps he didn''t expect me to say that, or maybe my words had struck a nerve in him. He approached

me, pulled me into his chest and tightened his arms around me. His voice was hoarse as he said, "She

    won''t have it easy."

    Who?

    Andrea? Or was it Valerie?

I didn''t ask. I just let him hold me.

"Hendrix, I''m hungry. Can you let me go?" I felt ufortable locked in his tight embrace.

He paused, let go of me, and led me downstairs.

I thought Andrea had already left, but she was surprisingly still hanging around.

In the kitchen hall, Nerissa and Andrea were chatting with each other when they saw Hendrix and I

Nerissa smiled and got up to walk towards us. "Didn''t you say that you were going to a meeting today?

Why did you get up sote? Minnie has prepared your favorite pumpkin porridge. Hurry up and have

some. Andrea and I will follow you to the Roberts Groupter."

As she spoke, Nerissa squeezed herself in between the two of us. My pace slowed as I followed

    behind them.

Nerissa led Hendrix to the seat next to Andrea and said to Minnie, who was in the kitchen, "Minnie, get

Hendrix a bowl of the porridge."

Then, she looked at Andrea and said with a smile, "Andrea, you probably don''t know this but once,

when Hendrix was young, he got home from school one day and saw that Minnie was cooking pumpkin

porridge in the pot, so finished it all by himself. Afterwards, when Minnie returned and saw the empty

pot, she thought that the porridge had been overcooked and had evaporated into the air!"
