Chapter 404
Kelsey and I hadn''t didn''t talk for long.
I initially had nned to directly return to the vi. However, after thinking about it, I decided to make a
trip to Irvin''s ce instead.
However, not long after starting my journey, the car came to a stop right at the luxury building at the city
center.
Many drivers hurriedly got out of their cars to check what themotion was. It was obvious that
something had happened.
I was not one who liked being nosy. But since my car was blocked, I wasn''t going anywhere. So, I
joined the bandwagon and got out of the car. I got hold of ady and asked about what happened.
Evidently, middle-ageddies only knew two things: ying cards, and being all up in others'' business.
When the woman saw me asking, she immediately lit up as she exined, "Oh, youngdy, if you''re in
a hurry, you''d better find a way to leave first. Someone''s trying to jump off a building; I heard that it''s
the ex-wife of the head of the Granger Group who had just passed away. The rich and powerful family
had a hard time. Her ex-husband had just died, yet she was goaded into jumping off a building by his
former mistress. The daughter of the Roberts Group head in Ucrebury is really something. She took the
inheritance and forced the ex-wife to jump off a building. Shemitted a great sin!"
Below the building, amotion went on as the crowd started to scream. The middle-aged woman
didn''t say anything more and immediately rushed forward and squeezed herself into the crowd to watch
the scene.
The wind was knocked out of me for a brief few seconds. The ex- wife of the Granger Group''s head?
Helen? Irvin''s mother?
After thinking for a while, I locked the car door and followed into the crowd without thinking too much.
In just a few short minutes, the ground floor of the city center''s building was packed with people. The
surrounding streets had been blocked off, and there was no way to get through.
The triangr- shaped building was the chosen location of Hendrix''spany headquarters in Jarold
City, and it was surrounded by several famous office buildings, including the Granger Group and the
Moore Group.
Helen had climbed right to the top of the building, which was more than a hundred stories high.

Many passers-by grouped under the building -the result of the feud between two wealthy families. A lot
of people just enjoyed being nosy.
Someone had called the police and even the Fire Department hade. The building was then
cordoned off by the police to keep people from entering the premises.
Nobody was allowed to enter or exit the building.
As I didn''t know what was going on, I called Irvin several times but there was no answer.
I called Hendrix. After the call went through, he sounded like he was on a ne. Perhaps he was in a
hurry as he said, "I have to drop by Ucrebury for a bit and will get home a littleter. Don''t wait for me
for dinner."
Then, he hung up immediately after. I called again but the phone was switched off.
I had no choice but to squeeze to the front to try and talk to the police. "Sir, could you let me in? I know
thedy who''s trying to jump off the building."
"Who are you?" The police asked, beckoning me to step backwards and not to get too close to the
scene.
Yohannes and Helen were already divorced, and I couldn''t think of another answer, so I hurriedly said,
"She''s my friend''s mother? Can you let me go up and take a look?"
"Only immediate rtives are allowed to enter the building. Please step back and don''t interfere with
our work," the policeman said as he shoved me back.
I was almost falling from the hard shove, but fortunately, someone held me up.
"I''m Irvin, the son of thedy. Am I allowed to go in?" Irvin helped me up and handed his identification
card to the police.
The policeman took a look at it and said after a pause, "Mr. Granger, this way please!"
Irvin nced at him coldly and dragged me up the building. It didn''t take long for me to reach the top
floor.
Normally, outsiders were not allowed to enter these office buildings, especially the top floor. Only those
who had a work pass coulde up here.
The top floor was an open space roof top, and the railings were designed to be high for security and
safety purposes. There were flowers and nts around, along with patio tables, chairs, and umbres.
