    He then turned and walked away.


    Agnes, nervous and jittery, identally stepped on a pebble and made a loud noise.


    Startled by a noise, the man yelled, "Who''s there?"


    Silent and scared, Agnes made a cat-like noise.


    "Oh, it''s just a cat," the man muttered and moved on.


    Agnes stayed hidden until everything was quiet. "He was here to kill me," she realized, horrified. "If it weren''t for Rosie, I could have been the one on the ground..."
