    said, gently ruffling her hair. "As your husband, I''ll handle this for you."


    His gentle and indulgent tone touched Pearl, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Richard, why are you


    so good to me?" She hadn''t done anything likable, so why would someone go to such lengths for

    "Isn''t this what love is about? To do anything for someone?" Richard pinched her cheek
