    Pearl’s straightforward words caught Richard off guard. “How did you know?”


    “Master Jordan told me everything on the first day I returned.” Pearl sighed heavily. She took a step


    back, putting some distance between them. “But I never expected you to tell me nothing. Master


    Jordan was right. How could you have me when you didn’t even dare to be with me?”


    “I just didn’t want you to be caught up in my chaotic life.” Richard’s usualposure wavered, and he


    held Pearl tightly once

    “If Master Jordan could stop us once, he could keep doing it. I couldn’t predict what other ways he


    might use to threaten me. So, I decided to break up with you and let you be happy. And you know what


    happiness is? It’s being together no matter what happens. You should know that I’ll nevere back to

    Pearl’s words struck Richard deep in his heart. Slowly, he released his grip on her. “I’m sorry. I was a


    coward.”


    “Richard.”


    “Yes?”


    “I went straight to find out where they were holding your mother when I learned about her kidnapping.


    And I got it resolved. We could have rescued her at any time. I just have one thing to say to you now.”


    “Go on.”


    “I’m giving you a chance. Take me away.” Pearl looked into his eyes with seriousness, taking the risk


    that he would cherish her more this time and understand her importance.


    Love wasn’t about holding back, suppressing emotions, or hiding
