Chapter 1927

Fitch had his ns all mapped out, so the moment he confirmed Zoey was on board, he snapped up ne tickets without a second thought.

After all, there was a whole saga waiting for them in Greenfield. When Zoey''s ident shook themunity, the Pennyfeathers and others were in an uproar for ages. Now with her return, the buzz was bound to reignite.

The old secrets couldn''t stay hidden forever.

Deep down, Fitch dreaded the return to Greenfield. It was a ce filled with bitter memories for Zoey.

Yet, it was also home to people who cared deeply for her-Maja, Carol Miller, evenn Raymond had been touched by her supposed demise.

The truth was bound to surface sooner orter. This content ? N?v/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

    The next day.

As the family of three boarded the ne, Zoey still felt like she was in a daze.

Especially with her and Fitch nking little Nn, holding his hands between them-they looked every bit the picture-perfect family.

But Nn had reached for their hands first, and Zoey knew rejecting him would only hurt the little guy.

Throughout their journey, they turned heads, drawing attention from passersby.

Feeling self-conscious, Zoey breathed a sigh of relief only when they finally settled into their seats. Fitch fetched a nket and draped it over her.

"We''llnd in an hour. You can catch some sleep if you want."

Zoey shook her head, her gaze fixed on the clouds outside the window, feeling a surreal sense of unreality.

Landing in Greenfield, they took a VIP exit and got into a waiting car.

As they drove by familiar buildings, Zoey felt a vague sense of recognition, despite believing she had never been to Greenfield before.

The car stopped in front of the Haskins'' mansion, a stark contrast to the cozy vi she had in Zion City. Spanning nearly an acre, the property boasted a swimming pool and a running track, among other luxuries.

She knew Fitch was wealthy, but living in Zion City hadn''t really given her a sense of his financial magnitude. Now, she was getting a glimpse.

"I had a room prepared for you," Fitch mentioned as they arrived.

Zoey nodded, having brought along only a few clothes.

She found her room and discovered a plethora of new outfits in the closet.

It was her first visit, and she didn''t feel a sense of ownership over the space. Could these belong to Nn''s mother?

Just as she pondered asking a housekeeper, Fitch walked in.

"I had these prepared for you, in your size."

"You know my size?" she asked, surprised, as she hadn''t told him.

Fitch seemed awkward for a moment, then averted his gaze.

Zoey''s cheeks warmed at the thought, her mind racing back to a night they hadn''t fully discussed, questioning how he could be so sure of her measurements.

"Mr. Haskins, these items are too extravagant. I can''t ept them."

"Keep them. I''ll be spending far more on Nn''s private tutoring," Fitch reasoned, showcasing the casual wealth disparity.

Zoey was taken aback by the gesture, marveling at the world of the wealthy.

Still, she attempted to refuse, "But this is too much..."

"It''s nothing," he brushed off, his assistant ncing their way, knowing the true value of each custom-tailored piece.

    Since Zoey''s departure, Fitch had

been collecting these items annually, managing a wardrobe that spanned eight rooms, all personally curated by him. The purpose remained a mystery to all but him.

Unable to decline further, Zoey sincerely promised, "I''ll do my best with Nn, try to get him to open up more."

Fitch''s eyes lingered on her slender figure, lost in thoughts of that night.

    "Mr. Haskins?"

"Fitch?" she called again, snapping him out of his reverie.

Blushing, she looked down, "I think we should keep our distance. Nn''s autism, the family dog being a reminder of his mother, and I have a boyfriend... What happened between us was a mistake. I''m sorry for pping you; I was at fault too."

Fitch found her earnest apology endearing but also felt a pang of unease.

Had he recognized her uniqueness earlier, past mistakes could have been avoided.

Now, having her in his mansion brought him joy yet filled him with fear.

"I won''t let that happen again," he promised thoughts of consent lingering unsaid as he headed. towards the door. "Everything in the closet is yours. If you need anything, just ask."

Zoey opened the closets to find clothes, jewelry, and limited-edition handbags of inestimable value. Even without prior knowledge, the brands'' logos were unmistakable. To Zoey, the generosity seemed beyond what a wealthy benefactor would offer a mere tutor.
