Chapter 1893

Zoey returned to her office, grabbed a piece of candy, and made her way back to the nurse''s office. Inside, the little boy who had pushed Nn was still crying, tears pouring out like a broken faucet.

Zoey patted his head, "You go on out, I need to have a word with Nn."

The boy nodded, hupping as he left the room.

Zoey looked at Nn sitting on the bed, clearly more ufortable than before, and she felt a pang of guilt.

"Nn, does it still hurt? Want some candy?"

She took his hand and ced the candy in his palm.

Nn looked down at the pink candy, his eyshes drooped, and tears began to fall.

    Zoey paused and immediately panicked.

She grabbed a tissue from the side and started to wipe away his tears.

"I''m sorry, Nn. I didn''t mean what I said earlier. I just... I just don''t quite agree with how your dad handled things. It came out harsher than I intended, and it''s not your fault. Can you forgive me?" Nn lifted his clear eyes, longshes still wet with tears.

Zoey felt as if something had pricked her heart and gently wiped his cheeks.

"Teachers are human too, we make mistakes like kids sometimes. I won''t say those things again, I''m sorry. What can I do to make you forgive me?"

    "I want... Ozzy."

    Ozzy?

Wasn''t that the name of his family''s dog?

"You want another puppy? I can go buy one this afternoon, how does that sound?"Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

"Your Ozzy, the one you fold."

Zoey suddenly remembered, he had been upset over a paper-folded cat when he was identally pushed.

Her heart softened instantly, "Okay, if you forgive me, I''ll fold you three."

Nn''s heart felt a bittersweet pang, he pursed his lips and slowly nodded.

Zoey breathed a sigh of relief; the child was appeased, but dealing with Fitch was another matter entirely.

He was overly protective of Nn, couldn''t stand to see him hurt.

"Nn, can you talk to your dad? Let''s put this behind us and be friends, okay?"

After hesitating for ten seconds, Nn slowly nodded.

A smile curved Zoey''s lips as she ruffled his hair.

"Good boy. Let''s head out now, your forehead''s been taken care of, you can go home with your dad today."

She opened her arms and lifted Nn.

With just a tilt of his head, Nn could see her face.

His heart raced, and his little hand

Zoey didn''t notice these subtle changes; she genuinely cared for Nn, who seemed so introverted.

But she couldn''t help thinking, with a father as nitpicky as Fitch, the kid''s life must be hard.

Her opinion of him soured further in her mind.

When she brought Nn to Fitch, he was already sitting in the principal''s office.

The principal, looking anxious and fearful, scolded her as she entered with the child in her arms.

"Ms. March, you should''ve let Nn rest there; doesn''t he have a clotting disorder?"

Zoey frowned, "The wound has stopped bleeding; there''s no need for him to stay in bed."

Fitch''s expression was frosty, but it softened when he saw her holding Nn, his eyes misting over.

"It''s easy for you not to care, he''s not your child."

The air grew heavy with his words, and the principal trembled, too scared to speak.

"Nn, go home with your dad."

Reluctantly, Nn let go of her neck.

Zoey ced the child next to Fitch, "Mr. Haskins, you should have a good talk with Nn."

With that, she spoke to the principal.

"I''m off to read a storybook, I won''t disturb you any longer."

The principal turned pale with fear, the issue still unresolved, and yet she was leaving.

As Zoey turned to go, Fitch spoke up.

"Ms. March, why don''t you quit your job at the kindergarten ande

Zoey paused, her smile forced, "No need, Mr. Haskins. I''m afraid I might not take good enough care of him."
