Chapter 1808

    Chapter 1808

By the time he arrived at the office, he kicked things off with a meeting.

The meeting dragged on for two hours, but by lunchtime, he was face-to-face with Nathan, who did

a double-take when he saw him.

Felix seemed to be in high spirits today, a departure from his recent gloomy demeanor at work.

Today, there was a hint of a smile in his eyes.

Nathan pped him on the shoulder.

    "Hit the jackpot or something?"

    "Nope."

"I bet it''s got something to do with Listina. She posted on Facebookst night, mentioned you''ve

been taking care of her. She''s always been that way, ya know? Just a little bit of attention from you

    and she''s over the moon."

The smile in Felix''s eyes dimmed slightly, "She hurt her handst night."

"Ah, I see. Doc says she''s got depression, man. You better keep an eye on her. She only ever

listens to you. Whenever I call her, she barely wants to chat. It''s probably because you spoiled her

too much back in the day."

Nathan''s every mention of Listina seemed to drain Felix''s mood further. Felix looked up, sensing

something off about Nathan today as well, "Got yourself a love interest?"

Nathan stiffened, suddenly sheepish. He was too excited about his afternoon ns to go for a drive

with Carol. He''d been looking forward to it so much that he couldn''t hide his anticipation.

    "Nope."

"Someone from work again?" Felix''s tone was nonchnt as he lit up a cigarette.

Nathan felt even more uneasy but remembered Carol calling him a chicken for not having the guts.

He couldn’t fathom what he was thinking. Maybe it was because he always felt overshadowed by

Felix, but today he mustered an unprecedented courage.

"Not exactly. Still chasing her. She''s not sure if she wants to date me."

    "How far have you gotten?"

    "Just holding hands."

"Holding hands and not dating yet? Is she stringing you along?"

Felix knew Nathan too well, especially his way with women.

In the past, many women approached Nathan only because they wanted to get to Felix. Nathan was

just a means to an end.

Due to these experiences, he felt unworthy in front of women, believing that none would genuinely

    be interested in him.

So, he rarely turned down any advance, but when he was broke, there were hardly any. It was only

after he received a car as a gift that his luck began to change, albeit with just one or two women.

Now, he seemed to have his eye on someone new, but she was still testing the waters.

"Spend more time on Fiona, less chasing women. You should find a school for her; staying home

    isn''t going to cut it."

"I know, I''ve been looking. Fiona wants to go to school too, and she''s up to date with her studies.

I''ve been teaching her. I should buy a house first, check out the local school districts."

"If you''re short, you can borrow from me."

For a moment, Nathan was somewhat regretful. He knew Felix considered him a friend, but he got

jealous of him. He shouldn’t have felt that way.

He was remorseful all afternoon, debating whether toe clean to Felix. But at 4 PM, as he

picked up Carol at the mall, the conspicuous marks on her neck made his pupils constrict fiercely.

He had his fair share of women; he knew exactly what those marks were, and they were made with

    force.

Carol didn''t bother to hide them. With downcastshes and a fragile look, she asked, "Where''s the

    new park?"

Nathan''s temper red at the sight, "Felix did this to you?"

Carol''sshes trembled, and she forced a bitter smile, "Who else?"

    "Felix."

He wanted to defend Felix, but then he remembered the times he''d seen Felix get into scraps with

    loan sharks.

Even those toughest guys were wary of him. There was a ruthless streak in him; if not Felix, then

    who?

He was at a loss for words, just feeling suffocated. His goddess, the one he was so desperate for,

    seemed easily humiliated by Felix.

What was Carol like in bed? He was curious, and his body heated up instantly.

Because of his tantly obvious gaze, Carol picked up on his intentions but didn''t call him out.

Instead, she simply asked, "Aren''t you going to start the car?"

    "Felix went too far."

Nathan had to admit, he harbored some hope - to turn Carol against Felix, to give himself a chance.
