Chapter 1739
This Hospital was where Listina was being treated, and Felix had never once mentioned it to her.
If Listina had a fiancé who had stayed devotedly by her side all these years, then what role did Felix
y in the picture? Was he just a distant cousin? Or was their rtionship tightly bound due to their
parents'' connections?
Carol texted Felix.
[Hey, I''m at the hospital and heard the doc mention Listina''s got a fiancé. Is that for real? Howe
I''ve never heard about this before?]
She sent a curious emoji, not expecting a reply since it was his working hours. But he replied swiftly.
[You''re still at the hospital?]
[Yep, do you know about this? I was thinking of digging a little deeper.]
[Carol, I''m not workingte tonight. Weren''t you nning a surprise for me?]
Only then did Carol remember her ns, which had slipped her mind because of Abner''s
unexpected visit to the hospital.
Her cheeks flushed, and a smile curled at her lips.
[I''ll head back soon. There are a bit of health problems with my dad, but he''s okay now.]
Felix stared at his phone screen, his expression darkening - a rare sight.
Without overthinking, Carol left the hospital after sending the message. Returning to the ce Felix
rented, she unlocked the door and got busy unwrapping a package.
Inside was something she had ordered - meticulously sanitized as she was particr about
cleanliness.
ncing at the time to make sure Felix would be arriving soon, she hid by the living room door.
Felix had taken his meds at the office and when he entered the dimly lit room, a warm, fragrant
body crashed into his arms, his hands instinctively gripping her waist.
Through the dim light from outside, he could see she was wearing a headband with what she called
"leopard ears".
Carol swayed her hips, her "tail" wagging twice.
"How do I look? Am I mesmerizing?"
As she moved to turn on the light, Felix caught her hand. His kissnded on her neck, and Carol''s
body melted, a hint of pride in her response. If this didn''t bewitch him, nothing would. She had spent
ages choosing this outfit.
Felix lifted her effortlessly and ced her on the foyer cab. The room''s temperature spiked
instantly.
By the time they were done, her forehead was dotted with sweat, and she couldn''t help but wrap her
arms around his neck.

"Felix, I''ve been thinking about marring you. What about you?"
He stiffened, silent for half a minute. In case he hadn''t heard, she repeated, "Do you want to marry
me?"
"Yes."
His voice was hoarse. He grabbed a tissue from the side, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Carol chuckled, her hands climbing back around his neck, "I thought so. What man wouldn''t want to
marry me? Let''s set the date for two months from now. What do you think? I''ll convince Dad; I think
he''s starting toe around."
Felix patted her back softly without responding. Carol, thinking he was stunned by the news, let
herself daydream.
"We''ll order the wedding dress from Italy. I''ll visit Dad more at the hospital, and once he''s better, I''ll
help him pick out his suit."
At the mention of frequent hospital visits, Felix''s gaze flickered, and he pulled her closer.
"Let''s sleep."
"Yeah, I''m beat."
She had been pushing through just to talk about the future. Carol fell asleep quickly that night, but
Felixy awake.
The next morning, instead of going to the office, he decided to apany her to see Abner.
"I''ll wait outside. Call me when you''re done."
"Okay."
Carol beamed. It was the first time he had taken the initiative to visit Abner.
At the hospital, she went inside. Abner''s assistant took the chance to step out, and Carol sat down
by her father''s bedside.
"Dad, how are you feeling?"
"Much better."
Abner''s spirits were up, though he was pushing through just not to worry her. He was tired and
wanted to sleep.
Carol chatted about this and that, promising to take care of him in his old age. It seemed the
hospital stay had really shaken her, making her more talkative than usual.
Abner found it amusing, ruffling her hair. Carol paused, her heart softening, "I was worried my
rtionship was taking a toll on your health."
"It''s not. You''ve been headstrong since you were little. If I got sick every time, I''d be in worse shape
than just hospital stays."
"Dad!"
Carol, slightly indignant, poured him a ss of water. She was relieved, though. Truth was, she got
deeply scared of it. Just like what she answered yesterday to him, that if her being with Felix had
really influenced her father’s health, she’d break up with him immediately. Except she would be
upset, because she seriously had fallen for Felix; the feeling was intense, which she had never
experienced before.
They talked a bit more, and noticing ack of paper cups, Carol decided to step out to find some.
Just as she opened the door and took a few steps, she saw Felix and Abner''s assistant talking
together.
These two were supposed to have no connection, yet they seemed to be deep in conversation.
"Do you guys know each other?"
Her sudden voice made them pause.
