Chapter 1422
The gravity of the situation was palpable, and Dn found himself rooted to the spot just inside the
doorway.
Minutester, a heavy downpour began, casting a gloomy veil over the sky.
It''s said that weather can sway a person''s mood, and as Dn''s gaze wandered into the distance, he
indeed spotted a car slowly making its way toward him.
As the vehicle approached, he saw Beck step out from the driver''s side.
Then came Ian, followed by Maja.
The sight of Maja instantly raised Dn''s hackles.
"What the hell are you doing here? How dare you?"
Maja stood by Ian, who was gantly holding an umbre over her, sheltering her from the rain as if she
were made of sugar and might melt.
"Dn!"
Beck, under his own umbre, was genuinely worried that Ian might take Maja and just leave.
"Dn, cut it out!"
Dn''s expression was icy. "Beck, aren''t you going to exin yourself? Bringing this kind of woman to
the Sanders'' residence – you wanna tarnish our name?"
Beck took a deep breath. "Upstairs, to Dad''s room. Dn, no matter how upset you are, you need to
hear me out, and Dad needs to hear this too."
Dn was fuming, his anger not solely directed at Maja but also at Ian.
It was Ian''s fault that Judith was in such a state.
Had Judith run off to that no-man''snd looking for him?
Damn it! It was this pair that had ruined Judith!
"Dn, if you walk away now, I''ll cut ties with you forever."
This threat hit Dn hard, tensing his entire body, forcing him to suppress the rage boiling within him
as he trudged upstairs.
Maja was equally irked by Dn''s presence, but thankfully Ian was by her side. She ignored Dn
The group arrived at Augus''s bedside, with all the servants conveniently absent.
Ian, catching sight of Augus''s white hair, paused, taken aback.
Even after hearing about it from Beck, actually seeing it was a different kind of shock.
Maja, too, furrowed her brow in surprise at the sight. She remembered Augus from a speech years
ago, the epitome of an elite, sharp and vigorous. Now, he seemed a shadow of his former self.
A twinge of difort nudged her heart, and she instinctively gripped Ian''s hand tighter.
Ian patted her hand in a silent gesture of reassurance.
Just then, Dn''s dark voice cut through the tense air.
"Beck, have you lost your mind? Letting these two see Dad – are you hoping to finish him off with
another shock?"
Before his words could settle, there was a knock on the door, and the voice of Arlene echoed through
the room.
"Dn, what''s going on?"
Before Dn could reply, Arlene pushed the door open.

Maja, following the sound, stiffened at the sight of the face before her.
Lillian?
Arlene''s gaze, too, shifted and upon seeing Maja, twisted with revulsion.
"So it''s you, Maja, right? You''re the one who''s put Judith through hell. You deserve the worst! Dn,
why is she still breathing? Didn''t I tell you to deal with herst night? How can she still be standing
here?"
Arlene''s face was a mask of fury, her hand raised to strike Maja.
Caught off guard, Maja was too stunned to react.
But the impending p hung in the air, halted by Ian''s grasp, his expression stone cold.
"Mrs. Sanders, is this how you wee your guests?"
"Guests? You''re no guests – you''re enemies of the Sanders family!" Arlene spat. "Dn, get these two
out of my sight, they''re making me sick!"
Dn shared the sentiment, his icy demeanor making a "please leave" gesture.
"The Sanders family doesn''t wee you. I suggest you leave."
As he spoke, his eyes unintentionally caught Maja''s. A sudden memory shed through his mind –
Maja''s eyes bore a striking resemnce to the woman in a photograph he''d just seen.
His brow furrowed, and for a moment, the harsh words he wanted to say simply wouldn''te out.
