Chapter 1420
"Dn, oh, it''s midnight, why aren''t you back yet to keep mepany? I''m really scared. Don''t you
want me anymore?"
Dn rubbed his temples with a sigh, "I''m with Dad, keeping watch. I''lle backter."
Judith''s voice turned tentative, "Dn, did Beck say anything to you?"
Like Maja''s true identity.
Beck and Ian had rushed to rescue Maja—did they already know who she really was? Otherwise, why
would Beck react so fiercely?
If Dn also knew, would he instantly turn his back on her?
"He didn''t say anything, Judith. Don''t overthink it."
"Dn, will you always be on my side?"
Dn frowned, unsure how to respond.
"Judith, between you and Maja, I''ll definitely be on your side. I know you''re still upset tonight. Don''t
worry, I''ll find another chance to make things right."
But Judith''s heart was filled with trepidation, "Okay, I trust you, Dn."
After hanging up, she didn''t hesitate to call that man.
"Did Beck and his crew find out about Maja''s identity?"
She had invested so much, finally getting to this stage. If Maja''s identity came to light now, and Dn
sided with her, what was all her effort for?
Little did she know, in the eyes of that man, she was already a discarded pawn.
He had always been sparing with words when it came to discarded pawns.
"No clue."
With those words, he hung up.
The masky on the table beside him, his fingers tapping lightly on the marble surface, his brows
furrowed in dissatisfaction.
Fitch was recovering too quickly, but the Greenfield turf was his stronghold after all. It made sense he
could uncover this, but it was still a nuisance.
Rubbing his temples, he heard Phil''s voice.
"After our identity was suspected, the situation in Greenfield was bound to spiral out of control. The
Haskins family is strong. There''s no need to worry too much."
"I know, but he''s just too lucky. If it weren''t for Abner Olson picking him up, there''d be no Fitch in this
world."
Phil sat down across from him, resting his chin in one hand.
"I''ve always wanted to know, what''s your n? If you wanted BK, it''s been in our hands for a while. All
this effort, causing so much trouble, only to let those two have a child."
He caressed the mask with his fingertips, pausing before saying, "The Holy Daughter should never
have taken me in. I just want her to learn that good people don''t always get rewarded."
Phil raised an eyebrow, a smile creeping onto his face.
"I don''t believe that''s your true intent. Even if you told me you just wanted to make the Holy Daughter''s

daughter miserable, I''d believe it. We have grander ns. Let''s not toy with them too long; others might
get impatient."
"Right."
The two fell silent, a glint of power-lust flickering in his eyes.
He needed to reach higher, much higher. BK was nothing. The research facility was his ultimate goal.
A smirk flitted across his lips, then his expression settled back into impassivity.
At the Sanders residence.
After ending the call, Dn slowly stood up, about to bid farewell to Augus when he noticed his father''s
eyes fluttering open.
Augus stared nkly at the ceiling.
Dn felt a sting in his heart and immediately grabbed his father''s hand.
"Dad? Is there something you want to say?"
Tears streamed down Augus''s face, sinking into the pillow.
Dn had never seen his stern father reveal such vulnerability.
Augus''s heartache revolved around Jolin. He had to get to the bottom of it.
"Don''t worry, Dad. I''ll head back to Greenfield soon to investigate."
But Augus''s eyes only opened for a few seconds before closing again.
Had Dn not seen it himself, he might have thought it was an illusion.
His gaze drifted downward, and he gently uncovered the nket beside him.
Beneath it was Augus''s hand, clutching a small photograph, norger than the palm of a hand.
Dn took hold of his father''s hand, trying to extract the photo, but Augus''s grip was firm.
It was as if, in a fleeting moment of rity, he had seized what mattered most and refused to let go.
Only when the grip rxed did Dn manage to retrieve the photograph.
In it was a young Augus, standing alongside a beautiful woman.
