Chapter 1370

    Chapter 1370

Maja''s wrist was gripped tightly until she was seated in Ian''s car.

    "m!"

He shut the door forcefully, cupped her face in his hands, and kissed her with fervor.

Maja considered her options briefly before turning her head to avoid the kiss.

Ian felt as though his heart was catapulted into the sky, only to be cruelly mmed back down to earth.

His hands clutched the steering wheel with a death grip, his breathing shaky and rapid from the abrupt

    rush of emotions.

He had no idea what kind of game Phelps was ying or why the man had suddenly decided to

release Maja, acting as if he held all the aces.

Seated in the passenger''s side, Maja stared straight ahead, her hands involuntarily sping the

    seatbelt.

A person who had been breathing in fumes of drugs, one who had been deeply hypnotized without

their knowledge, felt a profound unease upon leaving the protection of someone they thought was safe.

Ian sensed something was off with her, but he was desperate to take her to the underground fight club.

    He floored the elerator.

Three hourster, the car pulled up at the grand entrance of the fight club.

He scooped Maja into his arms and strode past the ornate, ck-and-gold pirs.

Maja remained silent, clinging tightly to his neck.

The roar of the crowd and the animalistic shouts rang in her ears.

She buried her head in his chest as the difort seemed to w out of every pore.

Ian''s palm gently patted her back until they reached the exclusive seventh level.

Maja was greeted with opulence beyond description; it was a corner of the world dripping in luxury,

    where the richest colors converged.

Ian ced her on the plush sofa next to him, and without hesitation, pressed down on her.

    "Mmm. Stop."

She struggled to catch her breath as he kissed her, her instinct was to flee, but her efforts were like

    casting stones into the abyss.

For an hour, Ian''s lips traversed her body, keeping her firmly in his embrace.

The deeper he kissed, the more acutely he realized that her expressions were no longer as vivid as

    before.

The look of love in someone''s eyes can''t be hidden. In the past, she would grasp his hair, pushing and

pulling in a paradox of resistance and invitation.

Now, that loving gaze had settled into a calm, even though her body still reacted as it always had.

Ian felt a pang of anguish and captured her lips once more.

Finally, Maja discerned a trace of passion in his eyes, in his face.

    "Ian, I can hardly breathe."

"Maja, how did Phelps rescue you?"

"Uh, I was taken by those men, locked up, they whipped me, and then I escaped. After a long, long

time, I met Dr. Herrington. He said you were looking for me too, but you had to go back to Greenfield

that day, so I stayed with him for a while."

As she mentioned Phelps, her eyes softened.

Ian felt his heart shatter under her gaze.

"So, you''re grateful to him, fell for him?"

    "I didn''t."

Maja felt flushed, an urge to push him away rising within her.

But Ian held firmly to her hands, bringing them to his lips to nibble.

"No, when you talk about him, you look so tender, but with me, you''re so calm. Don''t you love me

    anymore?"

He could endure anything, but not this.

No wonder Phelps was so smug; he knew that returning a Maja who didn''t love Ian was the greatest

    torment for Ian himself.
