Chapter 1336

    Chapter 1336

Ian’s gaze lingered on hispanion, his voiceced with growing impatience.

    “Any word from Eric yet?”

Patric shrugged nonchntly, “He’s still out cold. No sure when he’ll wake up.”

Ian was about to blow a fuse when Nydia breezed into the room.

“Ian, Dn’s here,” she announced. “He says he needs to have a serious word with you.”

    “Not interested,” Ian snapped.

"He ims that if you want the lowdown on the research facility, you’d better agree to marry Judith. He

says he knows where it is.”

    Ian stiffened, thinking he’d misheard.

    How could Dn possibly know!

Without another word, he stormed off to meet Dn.

Dn sat ramrod straight in the private booth. A chilly expression was on his face as Ian approached.

The Sanders family was shrouded in gloom, with Judith now being both blind and mute, and her

emotions in tatters every day. And Ian was to me for all these cmities.

But in spite of everything happened to her, Judith still called out for Ian in her dreams.

“Marry my sister, and I’ll tell you where the research facility is,” Dn offered.

Ian’s lips curled into a sneer. “How could you possibly know about the facility?”

“You turned Judith deaf and mute, but I’ve got the antidote from the facility. Soon she’ll recover. She

used to be in agony every few hours, but that’s over. In two months, her voice and sight will return. You

know as well as I do that only the meds from the facility can fix her, not some over-the-counter pills.”

Ian remained silent. If Judith truly recovered, it must owe to the facility.

Nydia’s poison was irreversible, it had shattered Judith’s vocal cords beyond repair.

But if the facility stepped in, that could change everything. After all, it was filled with top-tier talent.

“Ian,” Dn continued, “I’m making this deal because my sister might get better. You have three days

to consider. Reject me, and we’re sworn enemies.”

With that, Dn stood up and left.

Ian was now desperate to find BK, to uncover the research facility, and to see Maja.

But marry Judith? That would strip any meaning from meeting Maja again.

He tapped his fingertips on the table and turned to a bystander.

    “Is Augus back yet?”

    “Arrives tonight.”

“Set up a meeting. I need to see him.”

At ten in the evening, Ian and Augus met in a hidden diner.

Augus, with dark circles under his eyes, clearly hadn’t slept well.

“Mr. Sanders,” he began, “I’m now in North America, but I’ve asked a friend back home to look into your

daughter’s situation. We’re still partners, but now I need your help. Please tell me why you are digging

    into BK.”

Augus’s gaze narrowed. His face seemed weary but still disyed a formidable presence.

Ian sipped his coffee, “To be frank, Mr. Sanders, my partner was taken by someone in BK. It’s tied to

this mysterious research facility which I know nothing about. I need more information.”

Augus rubbed his temples, ncing at his coffee.

“Years ago, the Abbott family had twin sisters, Arlene and Cynthia. My grandfather, who was still alive

back then, consulted a seer who imed that if I was to marry Cynthia, it would bring turmoil to the

Sanders family. So, my marriage was arranged with Arlene. But I loved Cynthia; that girl was a genius

in every way. I admired her deeply. Arlene didn’t like me either anyway. Her lover was a destitute writer,

but it was impossible for us to disobey the elders of the Sanders family and Abbott family.”

As August recalled this, a hint of nostalgia shed in his eyes and a smile appeared on his face.

“I was deeply in love with Cynthia, from crush to love. I confessed to her and she said yes, but we had

to keep it an secret affair. I was obsessed with her, despite knowing that she kept many secrets from

me, I still loved her for who she was. As I was dreaming about our future, my secret romance with

Cynthia was found out. Cynthia was punished, and I was also locked up with Arlene as a penalty. They

intended to make what has been done cannot be undone. .”

“But Arlene and I struck a deal, letting Cynthia take her ce in marriage. This allowed Arlene to flee

with her beloved writer. We swapped Cynthia’s identity for Arlene’s, and I wedded Cynthia, who had to

live as her sister henceforth. Then we had two beautiful sons.”

“Until twenty-four years ago, after returning from Greenfield, I sensed something off. At that time,

Cynthia was still very weak after giving birth, but I felt that she had changed; she was different from the

person I loved. Since then we’ve been estranged from each other. I didn’t grasp the issue until a few

years ago. Perhaps the woman who returned was the real Arlene, not Cynthia. The woman I loved had

    vanished.”
