Chapter 1301

    Chapter 1301

She scurried to hide behind Zoey''s back, wondering how her simple rant about the blind guy had set

these people off like firecrackers on the Fourth of July, everyone hollering to take a swing at her.

She desperately tugged at Zoey’s sleeve.

“Zoey, please, talk some sense into them.”

    But Zoey stayed silent.

Ian simply waved his hand, signaling his bodyguards to escort her out.

By the time she got home and heard about her man’s trouble, she wouldn’t be so brazen.

    Belonging ? N?velDram/a.Org.

Belinda knew she was outmatched and slunk away, defeated.

Back at her apartment, she was fuming.

Damn it, who did those people think they were to treat her like that?

Seething, she dialed her husband’s number, seekingfort, but before she could connect, her phone

rang. It was a call from the school. They said her husband had been picked up by the cops.

The caller didn’t go into details, but it was enough to stun Belinda.

She stared in disbelief, hoping she''d misheard.

"The cops must have the wrong guy. My husband hasn’t done anything! He''s been straight as an arrow

for the past couple of years. No, I need to get to the station."

But the person on the other end didn''t care for her rambling.

Belinda rushed to the police station in a taxi, only to find she couldn''t even get a glimpse of her man.

Her face went pale, Maja’s image shing through her mind.

Maja had just threatened to lock her husband up, and now, as if on cue, he was behind bars. If not that

    witch, then who?

Belinda was livid, and she stormed off to confront Maja at the office, but as she arrived at the building,

    realization struck her.

A casual word from that woman could send her man to jail.

What would happen to her if she kept provoking Maja?

Thest trace of color drained from her face. She quickly dialed Zoey’s number.

Zoey hadn’t blocked her yet but clearly didn’t want to answer her calls.

Belinda was beside herself with frustration. In the past, Zoey had always been there for her, as if

answering her call was like popping a magic pill. And now, to be ignored?

Fuming, she considered charging up to the executive floor.

But the path was lined with bodyguards, and after her recent scene, there was no way they’d let her

pass. She was cklisted for good.

Belinda stamped her foot in anger, helpless, forced to sit in the lobby and wait, vowing to confront Zoey.

But the wait stretched out until 2 a.m.

She was dizzy with hunger when she finally saw Zoey descend from the executive elevator, her frown

deepening at the sight of Belinda.

After hours of waiting, hungry, thirsty, and furious, Belinda couldn’t hold back.

“You wretch! How dare you make me wait this long?”

She was ustomed to being tough in Zoey’s presence, hands on hips, exuding superiority.

Zoey nearly rushed to appease her, but recalling Maja’s words from earlier that day, she simply lowered

her head and headed for the exit.

“Zoey! Oh, I see how it is, pretending you can’t see me now? Let everyone witness this. I raise my

daughter all by myself, and now she won’t even acknowledge me.”

Zoey shrugged off her grip and walked briskly outside.

Belinda, caught off guard by Zoey’s defiance, nearly copsed onto the floor.

Zoey quickly made her way to the curb where a sleek car awaited her.

It wasn’t her night to be on call, and it was already past 2 a.m. What was this man doing here now?

Without overthinking, she remembered her resolution to transfer her affections to this man and slid into

    the car.

Belinda, chasing after her, only caught a glimpse of Zoey climbing into the luxurious car.

She hesitated, then cursed under her breath as she approached, but the car took off, leaving her in a

    cloud of exhaust.

Belinda was livid and overwhelmed, her husband still in jail, clueless about her next move.

Meanwhile, inside the departing car, Zoey sat quietly, gazing out the window.

The man had a new silver ring on his index finger tonight. He didn’t speak, his other hand slowly

twisting the ring, a somber mood enveloping him.

Zoey took a moment to ensure she hadn’t crossed him, then reached out and grasped his hand.

He froze, surprised by her forwardness, his eyebrows arching. Then his gaze swept over her,

appraising her like a piece of merchandise.

Zoey knew her ce in his heart. She was nothing more than a shameless woman. Perhaps because

she understood this from the start, she was unfazed by his scrutinizing gaze.

Taking a deep breath, she boldly sat on hisp.

His ring-adorned hand instinctively wrapped around her waist.

Tall and broad-shouldered, his embrace made her seem delicate.

“Are you in a rush?” he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
