Chapter 1279
Nightfall.
Lately, due to Ian''s relentless acquisition of otherpanies, everyone was on edge.
However, thesest couple of days, Ian had suddenly put a halt to his actions, and the atmosphere
rxed slightly.
Everyone was left wondering. Where in the world had Ian gone?
Inside the vi.
It was already 1 am, and Maja, trying to fend off the persistent advances of a certain individual, tapped
her fingertips on his palm.
"We''ll get caught."
Patric was a man with sharp senses. Just because he hadn''t found outst night didn''t mean he
wouldn''t tonight. Besides, Maja had a hunch that Patric was hiding something.
Ian''s lips were close to her ear.
"We won''t. I''ll be gentle."
He promised to be gentle, but ever since eleven o''clock, his actions were the opposite.
Maja bit down on his shoulder, causing him to hiss in pain.
Suddenly, the room''s door was knocked on harshly. Patric was outside, asking.
"Maja, are you still awake?"
Maja''s heart nearly leaped out of her chest. She quickly pushed Ian away, signaling for him to leave,
but he didn''t budge, instead pulling her closer into his embrace.
"Just don''t say anything."
Sweat trickled down her forehead, and he tenderly wiped it away, nting a quick kiss before resuming
his movements.
Maja was truly amazed by this man''s audacity. Patric was right outside, yet he still had the nerve to
continue.

Patric stood by the door, questioning the two onlookers.
"Did she take her medication tonight?"
They both nodded.
The medicine contained a sleeping aid, she should be asleep by now.
Satisfied, he decided not to disturb them further.
Inside the room, Ian had finally stopped, his forehead resting against hers as he took deep breaths.
Under the dim light from outside, Maja gave him a cold look. Still unsatisfied, she reached up and
tugged at his hair.
Ian was forced to tilt his head back, but quickly bent down to soothe her.
"It''s fine. I know he wouldn''te in."
Maja turned her head away, clearly upset.
Ian quickly grabbed her hand, nting a kiss on it.
"Remember that Mr. K you mentionedst time? I''ve done some digging, and it''s true that he''s
managed to keep a low profile. To the older folks in North America, BK is akin to the devil himself, but
the younger generation knows very little about him. After BK went into hiding, the underground forces
in North America split into various factions. With no sign of him pulling the strings, people eventually
forgot about him. But everyone remembers the legends of BK."
Hearing him talk business, Maja put her anger aside for the moment.
Her fingertips lightly drummed against his palm.
"You''re not confident about facing him, are you?"
"It''s not about confidence. This man has buried himself so deep that neither Fitch nor I could find out
when he sneaked into the country, or rather, he didn''t sneak in. He has a legitimate identity to enter, but
what that identity is, we have no clue. This indicates that he''s been in hiding for many years, and his
cunning is not something that can be undermined overnight."
Maja''s heart pounded as she tightly held onto his hand.
"What are we going to do?"
Ian chuckled lightly, nipping at her fingertip.
"He said you''re the leader, which means he won''t harm you. As long as he doesn''t harm you, I''m at
ease. Maja, if he forces you to make an impossible decision in the future, choose to save yourself.
Don''t consider me, not even for a split second, okay?"
As long as Mr. K existed, she would inevitably face such a choice in the future.
Maja didn''t respond, instead pushing him off her and turning her back to him in a huff.
Ian wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.
"All you need to do is stay alive. No matter where you are, I''ll find you. And I won''t die, Maja. As long as
I know you love me."
At this point, he seemed a bit embarrassed, holding her even tighter.
"Just love me, and no matter where you are, I''ll try my hardest to find you. No matter what hurtful things
you say in the future, I''llfort myself knowing you only said them because of Mr. K''s existence. I
won''t take it to heart. I won''t make the same mistake again, Maja. I''m truly changing."
He was indeed changing. If this had been earlier, he would''ve never returned after being humiliated by
Maja in front of so many people.
This time, he infiltrated her ce just on the off chance that she was in trouble.
Realizing this, Maja felt her heart ache even more.
How wonderful it would be if they could just live together in peace?
