    Chapter 1255

He stepped out of the bedroom, instructing the maid standing by.

"Clean up the bathroom, and prepare a room for her. Assign someone to take care of her, ensure she

gets three meals a day, but don''t let her leave the room."

    "Yes, sir."

Patric walked downstairs without sparing another nce at the quietly seated Maja.

Maja heard his footsteps, but she didn''t ask where he was going.

They were like strangers living under the same roof.

She was not even afraid of death. What more could she fear now?

Ian remained the CEO of the Raymond Corporation. He wouldn''t fall so easily, which was a relief.

A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, then her eyes stung. Today had been too heartbreaking,

she had shed too many tears.

When one was heartbroken and blind, time became unbearably long.

So, when she was helped into a room, she asked the maid.

"Could you arrange for a TV in my room? I need to hear some sounds."

Otherwise, this would be no different from solitary confinement.

The maid looked a little uneasy.

"I''ll have to ask the sir about that."

Maja nodded, groping her way to the bed, and didn''t speak anymore.

    At two in the afternoon.

There was still a man sleeping in a bed at Greenfield Gardens. The furrowed brow of the man indicated

    he was having a nightmare.

Ian woke up from the nightmare in an instant.

Throughout the two weeks that Maja had been missing, he had barely slept. Every time he closed his

eyes, he''d have nightmares of Maja dying quietly in an unknown ce, of him not getting to see her

    onest time.

The despair in his dreams was unbearable, but waking up to reality was even more so.

He looked calmly at the ceiling, acknowledging that he was at home, then went to freshen up in the

bathroom before changing into a suit.

He looked fine, as if Maja no longer affected him.

When he came downstairs, Fitch and Tyler were ying chess.

Seeing him, Tyler was the first to abandon the game.

"Ian, you''re awake. How are you feeling? If you ask me, you should stop worrying about Maja. You''ve

seen her attitude. She loves Eric, to the point of life and death. She''s been using you from the start.

    She''s not worth it."

Ian sat nearby, with the Raymond Corporation''s files piled on his knees and aptop in front of him.

He sorted through the paperwork methodically, unswayed by Tyler''s words.

He seemed to have reverted to the cold, unfeeling Ian, the man who had pleaded with Maja in the

conference room to love him was nowhere to be seen.

Fitch and Tyler exchanged a look, unsure of what to say.

By the time Ian had finished dealing with the backlog of files, it was already five in the afternoon.

He stood up, grabbing a pile of files from the side.

"I have some matters to attend to at the Raymond Corporation."

    Tyler quickly asked.

"At this hour? You''re not nning to sign some share transfer contract with Eric, are you? He''s clearly

using Maja to get at you. If you sign that, it would be utter stupidity. Maja herself said she looks down

on you. She''s only mocking you. She won''t be moved."

Ian thought he wouldn''t hurt anymore, but hearing this, he felt as though his heart had been stabbed.

"I haven''t been to the Raymond Corporationtely. There''s a lot of work piled up. I won''t sign any

    transfer contract, once is enough."

    Tyler sighed in relief.

"It''s good that you''vee to your senses. Think about it, Maja''s just a bit prettier, what makes her

worth all this trouble? If you''re feeling down,e have a drink with us. There are a lot of new faces at

the BlueSky Bar. Do you want me to show you around?"

Previously, Ian wasn''t into such things. He found them distasteful.

But now, he simplyughed, as if he had finally let go.

    "Sure."
