Chapter 1212
At eleven in the evening, a woman left the towering skyscraper, but it wasn''t Maja. It was her assistant.
Wind stood in the shadows, nning to wait until the next day.
Unaware of him, Zoey entered the waiting car and instantly felt an air of oppression around her.
A man sat in the back seat, lightly tapping his fingers on a book resting on his knee.
It was her turn to keep himpany tonight, but she really wanted to work overtime at the office.
Unfortunately, her work was done.
The man nced in Wind''s direction, then withdrew his gaze, tugging slightly at the corners of his
mouth.
He made a quick call, then abruptly pulled Zoey towards him.
"To your ce?"
He was asking her, but his tone left no room for refusal.
Zoey was living in the sameplex as other artists from thepany. She was worried about being
seen and quickly shook her head.
"No."
The man raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent, "Then we''ll go to a hotel."
He had specifically booked a presidential suite, to pamper her.
Zoey didn''t dare say anything, hoping that Maja would call her at this moment.
Perhaps her prayers were effective, as her phone began to ring. It was indeed Maja, asking if she had
finished work and could deliver a document to Greenfield Gardens.
Zoey''s eyes lit up, and she felt revitalized.
"Alright, Ms. Pennyfeather, I''m on my way."
She immediately turned to the man beside her, "I''m sorry, Mr. Pennyfeather needs a document. I have
to deliver it."
The man simply leaned back, "It won''t affect us."

Zoey''splexion paled instantly. She wanted to leave on her own, but if she angered him, her night
would be even worse.
She dared not say anything, watching helplessly as the driver headed towards Greenfield Gardens.
Her heart pounded, not wanting Maja to find out about her rtionship with this man.
When they were two hundred meters from Greenfield Gardens, she couldn''t hold back any longer.
"Stop the car."
Her body stiff, she didn''t dare to look at the man, and under enormous pressure, she said, "Just drop
me here. I''lle back after delivering the documents."
The man seemed to know what she was thinking. He snorted lightly, but said nothing.
Zoey quickly got out of the car, clutching her purse and ran towards the gates of Greenfield Gardens.
It wasn''t until she was led into the vi by a servant that she finally breathed a sigh of relief, but she still
felt a piercing gaze following her.
Maja had just finished a bath. She and Ian had spent the afternoon watching a movie. The atmosphere
was unusually warm and sweet.
Now that Ian was working overtime, she remembered the document.
She took the document, flipped through a few pages, and looked up.
"Zoey, you look a bit pale. Are you feeling unwell?"
Recently, because of Shawn''s situation, everyone had been pulling all-nighters. Zoey had not rested for
two days, and she had a feeling that if she went with the man tonight, she would be tormented to death.
"No."
Majaughed lightly, "You''re off work sote, go home and rest. I''ll give you the day off tomorrow,e
back when you''re fully recovered."
Zoey''s pupils contracted sharply. She couldn''t help but grab Maja''s wrist, as if she was a life-preserving
straw.
Maja was taken aback and furrowed her brows keenly.
"Do you have something you want to tell me?"
Zoey quickly let go, remained silent for a few seconds, then moved her lips.
"Ms. Pennyfeather, can I stay here and work overtime with you tonight?"
"Sure."
But she had a feeling that Zoey was hiding something.
When Zoey followed Maja, she regretted her impulsive decision to leave the man, knowing she would
pay dearly for itter.
But she really didn''t want to do it with him anymore. He was not gentle in bed at all. Each time it was a
torment, and he even used their affair to humiliate her ruthlessly.
Now just seeing him filled her with fear.
Maja entered Ian''s study.
The study wasrge. Her desk and Ian''s were next to each other, a recent rearrangement.
What used to be a single-person study was now shared, but it didn''t feel crowded at all.
Ian was in a meeting overseas. When he saw Maja leading Zoey in, he was surprised.
Zoey pretended not to notice his gaze, obediently sitting next to Maja.
With her assistance, Maja worked quickly.
Ian''s phone rang, and he had muted his microphone. Seeing the iing call, he stepped out onto the
balcony to answer.
The man on the other end asked, "Is she still there?"
Ian stood on the balcony, ncing inside to see Zoey clinging to Maja like a frightened bird, clearly
seeking protection.
He leaned against the wall, chuckling, "You must have scared her quite a bit."
A cold voice came from the other end.
"She''s a bit disobedient."
