Chapter 1150
Compared to other women who reveled in their animosity because of Ian, Coral’s attitude was
impressively patient.
For Maja, this made Coral all the more endearing.
“You’re right not to be with him, Coral. You two just aren’t a good match.”
Coral chuckled and finished her cup of coffee just as the school bell rang from outside.
“I’m sorry, but my little brother just got out of ss. He’s in twelfth grade this year and I promised to
have lunch with him. With his studies taking up so much time, I asked him toe here. I hope you
don’t mind, Ms. Pennyfeather.”
Beforeing, Maja had done her research and knew that Coral had a younger brother, though not by
blood. Coral had adopted him, but the details of the adoption were not known.
A momentter, Maja saw a tall young man crossing the street. He was around eighteen, handsome,
exuding a youthful charm. Quite a few students surrounded him, but his demeanor was strikingly
simr to Coral’s—somewhat aloof.
Noticing Coral, he waved to his friends and quickly walked over.
“Sis.”
He called out, not even ncing at Maja.
Coral nodded at him and pulled out a lunch box from her bag.
“I brought this for you. Eat up.”
Barton Albright nodded, sat down quietly, and started to eat his lunch.
Seeing how he looked like, Maja couldn’t help but ask, “Coral, have you ever thought of getting your
brother into the entertainment circle?”

Coral shook her head. “This kid is made for academia.”
Upon hearing this, Barton looked at Maja, politely nodded, and then continued to eat his lunch.
Unlike most cheerful high students, this kid was somewhat reserved.
Maja''s gaze lingered on him. She had a feeling that the way he looked at Coral was a bit off.
She wisely chose not to bring it up now, but waited until Barton had finished his meal and left for ss
to ask Coral.
“Why did you suddenly decide to have lunch with Barton today? As far as I know, you don’t spend a lot
of time in Greenfield.”
The icy demeanor on Coral’s face vanished in an instant.
“In high school, Barton’s grades have consistently been at the top of his ss. Recently, though, he’s
slipped to being ranked over two hundred. His head teacher called me about it, so I came back from
overseas. With standardized tests around the corner, I’m worried something’s been bothering him.”
Maja stirred her coffee, deep in thought. She knew that Barton, with his good looks and academic
prowess, must be popr at school. But his demeanor was so simr to Coral’s, it was as if he was
trying to mimic her. Coral was somewhat aloof, and as a writer, she tended to get lost in her own world,
rarely connecting with others.
Loving a woman like that could leave one feeling helpless.
And in that helplessness, one might resort to desperate measures to bring her back.
Maja had an idea. “Coral, your script won’t becking investors. The chances of you picking me are
slim, but I really love your script. I can try to befriend Barton. You’re not the type to open up to people,
Coral, but mypany has many young people who might be able to get through to him. Perhaps
Barton would be willing to confide in me?”
Coral looked at her skeptically. “If you''re trying to get Barton into show business, Ms. Pennyfeather,
forget it. I know how dirty this circle can be.”
“No, I just want to help Barton open up.”
Coral was skeptical. Since she came back, she had been trying to talk to Barton, but he had been
evasive. On the surface, he seemed as well-mannered as before, but something was off. She just
couldn’t put her finger on what it was.
“Alright. If you can truly help Barton, then I’ll choose your investment for my script. But be prepared,
without some hundreds of millions, we can’t achieve the effect I want.”
“Don’t worry, Coral.”
Maja breathed a sigh of relief, a smile creeping onto her face.
Once she got back to her car, she checked her phone to find new messages from Ian.
[Still feeling dizzy, but I have an international meeting tonight.]
[Are you nning to ignore me forever?]
[You haven''t visited since Grandpa Holden passed. Want to go together tomorrow?]
Maja found herself unable to refute thest message.
