Chapter 1117
Her face was as white as a sheet as she stared at the modest spread of food before her, her mind a
chaotic whirlwind.
Carol quickly dropped to the floor, retrieving the scattered fragments.
"I''m not adding any drama to this, I swear. When I saw that car going up in mes, I was sobbing. But
he just left, cold and indifferent. I mean, if he had even a shred of feelings for you, he wouldn’t have
done this. Not to mention, he''s been getting pretty close with Judith recently."
Maja remained silent, simply picking up a new spoon and continuing to eat her oatmeal.
She refused to believe that Ian would say such things, and even less that he would consider a
rtionship with Judith.
She could exin everything.
"Maja?"
Carol noticed her daze and waved her hand in front of her.
Maja snapped back to reality, forcing a small smile. "There''s a misunderstanding between us. I''ll go and
exin it to him."
Carol was at a loss for words, anger bubbling up within her.
"And if you exin and Ian still won''t listen, what then?"
"Then I suppose it just wasn''t meant to be."
She spoke the words, but the bitterness was starting to spread relentlessly.
Carol took her hand in a firm grip.
“I have some free time these days. I’ll be there for you. If Ian can’t appreciate what he has, we can
surely find someone better. Don’t worry, I’ll introduce you to some reliable guys. Shawn Walsh is pretty
decent. At least you won’t have any negative emotions with him.”
Maja knew Carol was trying tofort her, but she didn''t know how to respond.
Thankfully, Carol didn''t press. So, for the rest of the meal, Maja quietly ate her oatmeal.
When they finished, it was ten in the morning.
Her body was still ufortable, her palm wrapped in bandages. Being around Patric these past few
days had been pure torture.
But then she thought of the gentle Patric. What if something bad had really happened to him?
What if the gentle Patric was gone and all that was left was this madman?
Carol''s phone rang at that moment. It was Abner.
As soon as she answered, she could hear him interrogating her.
"I heard you''ve been dating some broke boy. One of my business partners saw you working as a
waitress. Carol, you bettere home and exin yourself."
Carol''s heart skipped a beat. She stood up immediately.
"Maja, my rtionship with Felix might get exposed. I have to go. If I''m grounded, I won''t be able to
leave. You know how my dad is. He loves to ground me. But he was really helpfulst night when I
asked him for help. This time I won''t argue with him. If I don''t contact you, it means I''m grounded at
home. Don''t worry about me."
Then she waved and headed out the door.
She was always like this, full of energy.
Maja felt a lump in her throat. "Carol, thank you, really."
"We''re friends, Maja. No need for thanks."
Carol came back and hugged her. "Once I''m out of the house, I''ll take you shopping."
Maja nodded.
After finishing her meal, Maja rubbed her temples and tried to stand up, but she felt weak.
Nevertheless, she mustered the strength to call Jeff and ask where Ian was.
Jeff was at the office, and Ian was in a meeting.

"Mr. Raymond is at the office, but Ms. Pennyfeather."
Before he could finish, Maja thanked him and asked Maria to arrange a driver for her. She was going to
the Raymond Corporation.
She needed to exin the misunderstanding to him personally.
When Maria heard that she was going to the Raymond Corporation, she wanted to dissuade her, but
seeing Maja''s determination, she only sighed.
Maja hadn''t even had a chance to rest. She was almost asleep in the car.
When the car stopped in front of the Raymond Corporation building, the driver looked in the rearview
mirror and saw that she was asleep.
"Ms. Pennyfeather."
He called out to her.
Maja opened her tired eyes and rubbed her temples.
"Sorry, I fell asleep. Wait here, I''ll be right back."
As she got out of the car, she nearly tripped.
Even the driver was nervous just watching her.
Maja took the elevator to the top floor.
The people on the top floor were surprised to see her. Ian had been close to Judith recently, hadn''t he?
What was Maja doing here?
They all knew about Maja and Ian''s ambiguous rtionship.
But today, Judith''s brother was still here! Was Maja here to confront them?
Everyone was suddenly wide awake, watching her every move.
As Maja was about to enter Ian''s office, she saw the door being pushed open. Ian and Dn appeared
in the doorway.
When Ian saw her, a flicker of emotion passed through his eyes. Behind him, Dn said, "Let''s go.
We''re going to the hospital to see my sister. She''s been asking about you all day."
"Okay."
With just one word, Ian moved past Maja, ready to leave.
