Chapter 1090
The doctor continued, pulling out an IV needle, intending to insert it into Maja''s hand.
But upon seeing the needle, Eric shot up from his seat.
It was as if a painful memory had resurfaced, causing him to take a step back.
The doctor looked at him, surprised, assuming he feared needles.
"Sir, if needles make you ufortable, just look away."
Eric lowered his eyes, his fingers trembling slightly. His anguish spread like spider webs, wrapping him
tightly.
He felt like he was suffocating, desperately trying to breathe, but the webs only tightened more.
The doctor didn''t look at him but inserted the needle into Maja''s hand.
Eric tried to control his trembling fingers.
The doctor stood up, "When the IV bag is empty, remember to remove the needle."
Eric looked up, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
The doctor simply nodded politely and left.
Eric, so worried about Maja, should be staying by her side.
But he sat at a distance on the single-seater couch as if the ce where shey was a lion''s den.
After some time, he heard Maja''s pained voice.
Turning around, he saw that her blood had started to flow back into the tube.
He rushed forward, trying to remove the needle from her hand, but the memories in his mind
overwhelmed him. His fingers trembled, unable to grip the needle.
He felt sick, aiming for the needle, but his hand kept missing.
After several attempts, he grew more anxious.
Eric, the golden boy, never thought he''d be bested by a needle.
Maja opened her eyes to see a worried face.
Looking up, she saw her own blood flowing back into the bottle. She quickly pulled out the needle.
Angry at him, she thrust the needle at Eric without hesitation.
Eric didn''t dodge, allowing the sharp needle to pierce his palm.
His pupils contracted, thest bit of color draining from his face.
He stood up hurriedly, uttering, "I''m sorry, Maja."
Then he quickly left.
Maja didn''t know where he was going.
She tried to get up and leave but kept falling back down, feeling weak and nauseous.
Eric entered a small cabin, locking himself in without hesitation.
The cabin had no windows. It was so ustrophobic that an average person might go insane after a
few days, but Eric foundfort in the enclosed space.
He pressed his injured hand in the pitch-ck room and slowly slid down the wall.
He remembered Patric''s voice.

"Ten thousand times, so that''s how many times you''ve been pricked, Eric. It seems I''ve learned another
secret. You, trapped in that observation box, like ab rat. Every time they injected a new drug, they''d
watch your reaction. You felt like you''d lost your dignity, being pricked all over your body more than ten
thousand times. It hurts, doesn''t it?"
Patric hadn''t experienced it, so his tone was light and mocking when he said it.
"Shut up."
Eric had never lost hisposure before, but now he sat in oppressive darkness.
Patric felt a sense of satisfaction. So Eric did have fears.
"No wonder I felt uneasy around sharp objects when I was in your body. It''s your shadow."
Eric didn''t respond, his hair damp from sweat.
"Eric, you''re sick. Why don''t you just give me this body? Living is too shameful, too painful for you, isn''t
it? Who could live properly after going through what you did? Don''t worry. As long as you willingly give
up this body, I''ll help you fulfill your wish. You''re suppressing your negative emotions because there''s
still a wish you haven''t fulfilled, right?"
Patric even wondered if this wish had something to do with Maja.
