Chapter 1030

    Chapter 1030

Zoey approached Maja''s office desk, hesitating whether or not to wake her up. But she remembered

that Ms. Pennyfeather seemed to have dozed off on the desk when shest checked on her. Everyone

had been working hardtely, so she decided to let Maja rest a little longer.

Meanwhile, at Greenfield Gardens, the food on the table had been reheated several times. The chefs

were too afraid to even ask anymore.

Once again, the food became cold. Ian nced at the clock on the wall, it was already ten in the

    evening.

There were no calls, and he couldn''t get through to her.

He was busy too, but he would always answer her calls, even during meetings.

Ian found himself yearning for a cigarette, but he was afraid that the smell of smoke would ruin her

appetite if she arrived just after he lit it up.

He took out a cigarette and held it between his fingers, resisting the urge to light it. But when the clock

struck half-past ten, he couldn''t hold back anymore and eventually lit up.

The chefs had already gone home, and nobody was there to reheat the food.

Ian sat in silence as if he was in a silent standoff with someone.

The atmosphere in the hall was so gloomy that, in the end, even Jeff didn''t dare toe close to him.

He just stood quietly at a distance observing Ian’s activities.

At eleven, Ian told Jeff, "You go rest first."

Jeff walked to the door, wanting to say somethingforting, but he couldn''t find the words.

At that point he seemed to understand Mr. Raymond a little better.

When his feelings were unclear, his resolve was like the hardest thing in the world.

But when his feelings were clear, his heart might just be the softest thing.

Such extremes, yet not contradictory at all.

For those who were afraid to love, once they took the first step, it was earth-shattering.

Maja woke up promptly at midnight. She rubbed her eyes and suddenly remembered that she had

promised Ian to have dinner at Greenfield Gardens!

After a brief nap, she felt revitalized.

She immediately checked her phone and broke into a cold sweat when she saw the time.

She quickly grabbed her coat and headed out the door, greeting the few people who were still working

overtime on the top floor before leaving the building.

She didn''t call Ian in a hurry to let him know that she was on her way. Somehow, she knew that he

would still be waiting there for her.

That was why she always said that Ian had a way of melting people''s hearts.

Just like in that room in Crystalbrook Valley during the sandstorm, when he held her gently without

    saying a word.

Maja floored the gas pedal and by the time she arrived at Greenfield Gardens, the guards didn''t even

ask her purpose before letting her in.

The door to the living room was left ajar as if it had been waiting for the arrival of someone.

She pushed the door open and, as expected, saw Ian still sitting at the dining table.

Maja hung her bag on a hook and tried to exin her situation, "I''m really sorry, I fell asleep at the

    office."

Ian didn''t respond, he was sulking.

Maja quickly walked over to the dining table and when she saw all the food, she understood that he

must have instructed the chefs very carefully.

"There''s so much food, and it all looks delicious."

Ian ignored her, so she quickly put on an apron and started packing some of the dishes in cling film to

    put in the fridge.

"There''s just too much food, we won''t be able to finish it all. I''ll reheat three dishes and in about ten

    minutes we can start eating."

As she spoke, she continued to pack the food into the fridge.

Ian remained seated, watching her. It was the first time he had seen her wearing an apron in Greenfield

    Gardens.

He couldn''t help but think, if they hadn''t divorced, he could have still called her his wife.

Maja left three dishes out and kept talking to herself.

"Wow, this dish must have been flown in. As far as I remember, it''s not avable locally. You must have

instructed the chefs early in the morning. Thank you for the hard work. This one is also to my liking."

She carried the three dishes to the kitchen and started to reheat them.

The kitchen was a bit far away from the dining table, but through the transparent sliding ss door, Ian

could still see her bustling around in her apron.

He didn''t want to blink, just wanted to watch her a little longer as she went on with reheating the dishes.

After all, it was the first time he had seen Maja like that.

Especially in the kitchen of Greenfield Gardens.

True to her word, Maja had the three dishes reheated in just about ten minutes.

She wore oven mitts to take the first dish out of the microwave and ced it on the dining table. Then

she brought over the other two dishes.

There was still rice in the rice cooker. She was a big fan of rice.

So, all the dishes Ian had prepared for that particr night were her favorites.

    The presentation was exquisite.

She served Ian a bowl of rice and ced it in front of him, and then served herself a bowl.

She didn''t remove the apron around her waist, instead, she leaned in close to him.

"Mr. Raymond, let me feed you. I hope you can forgive my tardiness; I promise I won''t make the same

    mistake again, alright?"

She almost managed to make Ianugh.

When Maja wanted to appease someone, she definitely knew how to make them feelfortable.

He snorted lightly and finally picked up his spoon.
