    Chapter 982

Maja sat in the car, deep in thought, before sending another message.

    [Rocky''s bolted.]

She waited ten minutes, but there was no response from Ian. Her message seemed to have sunk into

    oblivion.

The chauffeur, driving her around, was also anxious.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, Rocky''s an oversized breed. If he''s seen roaming around Greenfield, someone

    might call the authorities.”

A knot formed in Maja''s heart. Despite Rocky''s strained rtionship with Coco, she had a soft spot for

    him.

She could always see a hint of Ian in him.

    Elsewhere, Rocky was running wild.

Judith, seated in her car, caught a glimpse of the white blur dashing past her window.

No woman could resist Rocky''s charm. His shiny white coat and majestic demeanor were quite alluring.

Originally sulky, she''d called for a ride home because she hadn''t seen Ian.

But seeing Rocky brought a twinkle in her eyes and a smile to her lips.

“Wind, retrieve him. I want him to be my pet."

Wind, a seasoned hitman, immediately recognized the creature wasn''t a dog but a rare white wolf.

“Miss, this is likely a pet from some wealthy family. It must have escaped."

“I don''t care. I want him. No matter the cost."

Left with no choice, Wind nodded, “I''ll get someone to fetch him."

    Judith''s eyes sparkled with amusement.

“Also, Ian would probably be interested in a pet as majestic as this one, wouldn''t he? Once we have

him, I could take him to Ian. Men do love powerful creatures, after all."

Wind stiffened at her words, his lips pressed into a thin line. He didn''t respond, just turned the car in the

    direction the wolf had disappeared.

To his surprise, the wolf was incredibly obedient. Perhaps sensing they meant no harm, he was tranquil

throughout the ride back to the vi.

Meanwhile, Maja''s car passed Judith''s on the road to find Rocky.

Maja nced at the woman in the other car, and Judith looked back at her.

Judith’s car was spacious, and Rocky was in the back.

Maja told the driver to turn around, intending to chase the truck carrying Rocky.

The truck drove slowly, eventually stopping in front of a vi.

Judith got out first, instructing her staff to bring Rocky inside.

Then she walked over to Maja’s car and gently tapped the window.

The window remained, but Judith guessed the wolf must belong to Maja.

    N?vel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

She took a card from her purse and slipped it through a small gap in the window.

“Three million dors. The pet''s mine."

The card fell into the car, nding in a corner.

Maja picked it up and tossed it out.

    “Rocky''s not my pet."

Judith had wondered how a woman as downtrodden as Maja could own a white wolf. But her words

    made it click.

“If it''s Ian''s pet, then you shouldn''t take my money. All I need to do is ask him, and he''ll give it to me."

Judith''s face lit up in an innocent smile.

She took out her phone and dialed Ian''s number.

“Ian, can I have a pet? Can you give me yours?"

Ian was on his balcony having a smoke. Before receiving the call, he''d been workingte in his study

    and hadn''t seen Maja''s message.

Annoyed by the call, he responded, “Do whatever you want."

He didn’t even have a pet.

“Thanks, Ian. When you''re in Greenfield next, I''ll introduce you two. Love you, bye."

After hanging up, Judith turned back to Maja.

“He agreed, Maja. I told you before that you''re out of the picture. Getting worked up over a pet, only for

him to hand it over to me, makes you look foolish."

Judith sauntered off towards the vi, humming a tune.

Maja remained silent. After all, Rocky was indeed Ian''s pet, and if the owner wanted to give it away,

what right did she have to object?

She just watched Judith, who was being fawned over by several servants, as she chatted with a man

sporting a small braid at the back of his hair, giving him a rakish appearance.

They were all orbiting around Judith likes around the sun, making Maja seem insignificant in

The chauffeur tried to console her.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, don''t be downhearted. If you want Rocky, I can ask around abroad."

Maja lowered her gaze and shook her head, forcing a bitter smile.

    “No, thank you."

She was just disappointed that Ian hadn''t answered her call, yet he''d promptly answered Judith''s and

given away Rocky in less than three sentences.

    Just a bit crestfallen.
