Chapter 910

    Chapter 910

Over in the next room, a few folks were gathered aroundn’s bed.

There were Tyler, Fitch, and Phelps. Most of the Raymond n were long gone. Only a handful really

    cared about him.

It’s been over half a month sincen’s bet against the EcoTraverse Group. With just over a month left,

his current illness had people putting their money on his loss. By the timen’s out of this hospital, he

might not be the big boss of the Raymond Corporation anymore.

Phelps, who was all scrubbed up for another surgery, nced at the other two guys. n might be out

cold for a few days. You don’t need to stick around.”

They all knewn was dancing with the Grim Reaper this time. And they knew he did it for Maja. He

went to save her when she got herself kidnapped.

Tyler wanted a smoke, but Phelps‘ re stopped him. “No smoking in the hospital.”

Tyler pulled a face, a bitter smile on his lips. “Guess I’ll step out for one then.”

The severity ofn’s condition had rattled everyone. Phelps and Tyler left, leaving Fitch alone. Then

Darlene showed up, all teary after hearing the news. Seeingn lying up like that, she couldn’t help but

cry. “Mr. Raymond, you need to get well soon. My kid and I need you.”

Fitch, leaning against the wall, raised an eyebrow at her words. He took a look at Darlene. But he

couldn’t care less aboutn’s love life. He was just surprised. Was the baby Darlene’s carryingn’s

    seed?

That can’t be right. Ian was known for not being adies‘ man.

But Fitch kept his mouth shut, his face a little glum. Darlene was kind of scared of Fitch. He was cold,

heavy. His chill was bone–deep. Ian’s coldness only came from his reluctance to talk. Ian was more

personable than Fitch in Darlene’s eyes.-

Darlene, seeing Fitch ignoring her, let out a sigh of relief. She kept crying.

“Mr. Raymond, you have to wake up soon. My child and I can’t lose you. I’m so worried, I can’t even

    sleep.”

Leaning on her crutches, Maja had just reachedn’s room when she heard Darlene’s tears. Darlene’s

words echoed through the closed door. Her fingers clenched at the memory ofn saying he was going

to marry Darlene. It had been over half a month, but once he woke up, he’d probably be with Darlene

soon. Maja didn’t know what he saw in Darlene, but if he liked her, he must have his reasons.

She withdrew her hand from the doorknob, limping away when she bumped into Tyler. He had just

finished a smoke and smiled when he saw her. “Penny, you feeling better?”

For some reason, Maja felt that his smile wasn’t as rxed as before, but ratherplicated, even a

bit disgusted. She had always been on good terms with Tyler, so she couldn’t figure out where she

might have gone wrong. But Tyler’s voice was still gentle, clearly not nning to expose anything. Maja

decided to y along, nodding slightly. “Thanks for your concern. I’m mostly better.”

Tyler’s hand rested on the doorknob. “Aren’t you going in?”

They both could hear Darlene, and his question was obviously intentional.

Maja mirrored his smile. “No need.”

She knew her smile was stiff. She turned to leave, leaning against the wall, intending to return to her

    own room.

Tyler swung the door open, his voice low. “If you don’t even have the guts to face this, you should stay

    away fromn.”

Maja paused. She was about to ask what he meant, but Tyler had already entered and closed the door.

Inside, Darlene’s voice could still be heard, along with Tyler’s teasing tone.

“Worry about him? He might dump you when he wakes up.”

“Mr. Raymond wouldn’t dump me. After all, I’m carrying his child.”

Maja didn’t want to hear any more. She leaned against the wall and took a few steps, but identally

tripped. Her crutch fell to the floor. She bent down to pick it up, but the sound of the door opening

    stopped her. Fitch stepped out.

Fitch was mainly annoyed by Darlene’s crying. He had a general distaste for the sound of any woman

crying. Seeing Maja, he frowned and approached her.

Her fingers were about to touch the crutch when a pair of expensive leather shoes entered her line of

sight. Then those shoes viciously kicked the crutch farther away.
