Chapter 856
Maja silently stared at the drink in front of her while Beck gently patted her head.
“My big bro is a bit of a cold fish, usually either grilling me or spoiling our little sister. Even ifn flops,
he’s got enough savvy to bounce back with a newpany in no time. Even if he’s no longer the big
cheese of thepany, Wall Street and Silicon Valleypanies would kill to have him. He’s still a
whiz kid, the new hotshot in the business world. He won’t just tumble off that pedestal. His adoration in
the North American media isn’t because he’s one of the Raymonds. It’s because he’sn, in and
simple.”
Maja kept mum, and Beck figured she might not quite get his drift.
“Remember that underground fight club I mentioned, where anything goes and can be traded? It’s the
most notorious ck market in North America. It’s actuallyn’s turf. The Sanders tried to take over
that hood back in the day but fell t on their face. Several other high–flying families were also battered
and bruised in their scramble for that piece of the pie. When everyone was down a and out,n
swooped in and snatched it. That’s why my big bro warned me not to cross swords with him, and
maybe we don’t really get the full picture ofn. You and him live in different worlds.”
He pulled out a handkerchief and gently wiped the sweat off Maja’s cheeks.
She just got out of the hospital and looked weak as a kitten, plus rushing over here, beads of sweat
were dotting her nose.
“So, you should just focus on running your own business, don’t worry aboutn. Just make sure you’re
living high on the hog.”
Maja didn’t even know how she got out of the bar. Once in the car, her phone rang, and the sky outside
had already turned dark.
She picked up the call, and a childish voice came from the other end.
“Is this Maja?”
Maja nced at the phone, and the disy showed Mr. Raymond.
It wasn’s number.
“Yes, what’s up?”
“I just wanted to warn you to steer clear ofn. I’ll let the Alma thing slide, but if I really lose my cool,
you’re going to be in deep water. No one wille to your rescue. I’m not messing with you right now
because I’m being a soft touch, and I didn’t want to waste my energy on you.”
Maja found this amusing, and she leaned back in her seat.
“You called him n‘, does he know?”
“Of course, he knew, we had dinner together tonight. He even bought me flowers. Is there something
wrong with me calling him that? We were nning on getting hitched anyway. I’ve already told my
mom. She even invited him to have dinner with us the day after tomorrow, so he can’t go back to his
country for now.”
Even though the girl was around the same age as Maja, her voice sounded very tender, and her
character was naive because of being spoiled.
Maja kept quiet, and she was kind of envious of this girl. Whatever she wanted, her family would move
heaven and earth to get it for her.
She might just get a tiny cut on her finger, and the most famous private doctor would be there to treat
her.
And Maja? She worked her fingers to the bone to get where she was today, almost kicking the bucket
in the process.
n is here to see me, so I got to hang up. You better y your cards right. My brother is in
Washington; don’t push me to sick him on you. The wise should know when to stop, right? Maja, I’m
only saying this once, if you stir up any more trouble, I won’t be so kind.n is my friend. I’ve known
him for years.”
The call was cut off, and the girl put her phone back.
Everyone’s phones were left in this room.
When he came in, he saw a girl in the room, the one that’s been tailing himtely.
He knew she was the little girl from the Sanders family, a bit of a celeb in North America, even getting
along with the royal family members,
decided to head back to the hotel.
The girl followed.
n, my mom wanted to meet you. Are you free the day after tomorrow?”

The other high–ranking leaders were still in the previous room. Ian walked alone into the elevator, and
the girl followed.
When the elevator door closed and reached the first floor, the girl was still trailing behind him, her face
always so naive, as if she was oblivious to everything.n stopped, turned around, gave her a wry
smile, his eyes suddenly turning icy, and uttered one sentence.
“Back off.”
