Chapter 574
Everyone around was gobsmacked. The traffic light had already changed, but no car budged.
Neil’s car was smoking, then on fire. Someone dialed 911 immediately, and the whole scene was
thrown into chaos.
Laura’s eyes were red and swollen. At the moment of the collision, she was thrown by the airbag,
with broken ss piercing her chest. But she was still alive.
Seeing the car quickly catch fire, she chuckled.
“Go to hell!”
Maja was sitting in her office, feeling a bit jittery.
She wasn’t sure if it was because she had been reading too many files and attending too many
meetings that her head was spinning.
At nine o’clock at night, she received a call from the hospital telling her she needed toe to identify
a body.
At first, Maja thought they had the wrong number until they started reading out the name.
“Your father was in a car ident at seven this evening. No one in the car survived.
Neil? But how could he have been in a car?
Maja still thought it was a mistake, as Neil was too sick to leave the house.
After hanging up, she immediately dialed the Pennyfeather family’s mansion to confirm. It turned out
that Neil wanted to bring her dinner.
Maja’s head went “buzz“. She rushed to the hospital immediately.
Three charred bodies wereid out. The doctor was trying tofort her on the side.
“We’ve examined the bodies. One was your father, Neil; one was the driver, and the other was a
servant. The ident was entirely the other party’s fault. The driver, Laura, is still being rescued. She’s
a celebrity.”
Maja saw a charred hand sticking out from under the white sheet. She covered her mouth, speechless.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, we have to wait for the driver to be rescued before we can deal with this.”
Maja almost fainted. She didn’t have the courage to lift the sheet. After being helped to sit down, she
started throwing up.
The smell of burnt flesh filled the air. She was shivering all over, feeling freezing cold.
She hugged herself, her nails almost digging into her arms.
Her teeth were chattering. As she signed the identification documents, silent tears soaked the paper.
The doctor handed her a tissue, looking a bit heartbroken.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, do you have any other family? We can call them toe pick you up.”
Maja shook her head, leaning weakly against the wall.
The driver added:
“Everything in the car was burnt. Nothing was left. The police will investigate Laura’s case, and we will
notify you of any follow–up.”
Leaning against the wall, Maja weakly asked, “Has Laura been in contact with anyone recently?”
“We’re not sure.”
Maja dialed the police again, who gave her a phone number.
Please check at N/?vel(D)rama.Org.
It was Carlene’s number.
In that instant, anger red in her heart.
She was reeling from the pain.
She didn’t feel like going back. She curled up in the hospital corridor, spent the night there, and
washed her face with cold water in the bathroom when she woke up. Then she began to prepare for
Neil’s funeral.
Looking at her swollen eyes in the mirror, she immediately knew who had pushed her into the water in
the nigh, Carlene.
Carlene had be cunning, always hiding behind others.
Even if the police found out about the phone call, legally speaking, Cartene was innocent.
Because she didn’t directly instigate Laura, she only provided the license te information.
Maja felt a stomachache. She threw up again, the pain making her break out in a cold sweat.
She was only fifteen days away from divorcingn, but she felt she had to do something.
She frantically searched for information on the EverBest Group online and finally found out that the
EverBest Group had recently received an investment from apany. The twopanies were going
to sign a five hundred million dor financing contract in five days. Once the contract was signed, the
EverBest Group would be able to pull through. That’s why Carlene was feeling smug.
Because she knew that Laura didn’t kill Maja, she killed Maja’s father.
This news was enough to cause Maja great pain.
Not to mention, the Shepard family was about to get an investment. Once their current difficulties were
over, she would still be the proud daughter of the Shepard family, while Maja was an orphan.
Carlene was sitting in her living room, unable to suppress a triumphant smile.
Tessforted her, saying, “I told you, we’ll find a way. The Shepard family’s turning point ising.”

“Mom, you’re right. I was too impatient before.”
The mother and daughter shared a smile, feeling that the uing days would be wonderful.
Meanwhile, Maja was tirelessly investigating the EverBest Group. She even asked for help from
Samuel, Luis, and the Miller family, but not fromn, her husband in
name.
