Chapter 163
In his peripheral vision, she was picking up the papers on the desk, organizing them one by one.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, followed by Dana’s voice.
“Mr. Raymond.”
“Come in.”
His full attention was on hisputer.
Dana nced at Maja, her lips curving slightly upward, as she walked over.
“I just got a call from Carlene. She said she got you a gift and had it express delivered. Here you go,
Mr. Raymond.”
To unsettle Maja, Dana deliberately undid the cufflink on her sleeve.
“She asked if you liked it. If not, the delivery guy is still downstairs, you can exchange it for another
style.”
Maja instantly recognized it as the cufflink she had givenn.
When she bought the cufflink, she was filled with guilt and spent a lot of time choosing it, so it was
deeply imprinted in her memory.
She now understood Carlene’s intentions.
But this seemed a bit much, and her attention ton was overly intense.
“Why did Carlene suddenly want to give me something?”
Dana sent a triumphant nce at Maja. This was the power of Carlene. Just mentioning her name was
enough to distractn. She had thought that Maja would back down, but Maja’s face was too calm, as if
this scene had not disturbed her at all.
What was going on?
Was this woman pretending?
As she was about to speak,n’s phone rang. It was Carlene calling.
n, did you get the gift?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you like it? I took a long time choosing it. I think it suits you.”
“Not bad.”
worry about such things.
A smile curved Carlene’s eyes as she thought of Maja in the office, and deliberately softened her tone.
“I’m d you like it. Can you wear it in the future? I want to see you wearing it.”
His answer satisfied Carlene immensely. Maja was present but did not seem embarrassed. It seemed
Maja’s worries were unfounded.
This was shameless. Everyone in town knew thatn was Carlene’s man. Even his wife in name had to
avoid her.
She had been biting her tongue for three years. What right did this designer have to interfere?
She sneered inwardly, but her tone became even softer.
“I won’t disturb you at work then. I’ll be back soon, remember to pick me up at the airport, okay?”
After hanging up the phone, he was about to put the cufflink into a drawer, but when he opened it, he
saw a package exactly like
this one.
He suddenly remembered that Maja seemed to have given him one before.
He looked up at Maja, but Maja wasn’t looking at him. She was still organizing the papers on the desk.
When she finished, she smiled at him.
don’t
“Mr. Raymond, I’m free now, I don’t want to disturb your work.”
distance from Maja, so he just blurted out.
“You don’t have to make soup for me anymore.”
Both he and Maja knew why Maja would make soup for him.
But Dana didn’t understand. She thoughtn had taken Carlene’s call and then rejected this woman on
the spot.
Dana’s face was full of triumph, her smirk barely controble.
Maja blinked, then sighed in relief. She was about to get busy and really didn’t have time to make
soup.
Moreover,n was going to Rosewood Manor at irregr intervals. If he found out the soup was made
by Maria, it would be
awkward.
“Sure.”
Maja agreed so quickly it maden feel a bit ufortable.
