    Chapter 97

He scowled a bit, but didn’t think too much of it. He turned and walked over to the table nearby and

    continued reading his work emails.

The next morning, he was up very early, and Maria brought him his breakfastn nced around the

living room but didn’t see thedy of the house.

Maria seemed to know what he was looking for and quickly exined

“Ms. Pennyfeather was a bit tired yesterday, and she asked me not to wake her up this morning

But wasn’t Neil just faking his illness?

His expression was cold as he slowly ate his breakfast and then got into the car parked outside

On his first night at Rosewood Manor, he didn’t see his wife whom he hadn’t seen in three years. He

wasn’t sure if she was restraining herself or deliberately trying to get his attention. If it was thetter,

she might have chosen the wrong method. He wasn’t interested in her.

He would never be interested in her

Upon arriving at the Raymond Corporation,n gave Jeff an order “Buy some gifts and go visit Neil at

    lunch.”

    Jeff nodded in understanding.

Back at Rosewood Manor, Maria waited untiln left before knocking on Maja’s door, who had already

finished her morning routine and was waiting for Maria toe get her. “Has he left?”

    “Yes, he just left.”

    Maja then went downstairs.

If you’re avoidingn because of Selena, do you want me to tell Holden?”

“No need, Maria. I don’t consider you an outsider, so I won’t hide it from you. I don’t liken. I did marry

him because of the three million dors in financing. If Selena doesn’t like me because of this, it’s

normal. Once Holden recovers, I’ll divorcen.”

Maria had nothing to say, so she just nodded.

After finishing her breakfast, Maja picked up the gift for Holden and nned to go to the old house.

Holden was living alone in the old house now, with many help and doctors around.

Perhaps because he had returned to his homnd, Holden’s spirits were high. When he saw Maja, he

excitedly stood up with the aid of his cane. “Maja you’re finally here.”

Maja’s face showed a hint of guilt as she quickly walked over.

“Grandpa, I’m sorry. My dad suddenly fell ill yesterday and I didn’t realize that I had missed the pick–up

time. This is the gift I brought.”

The gift Maja gave to the old man was not bought from outside. After all, at Holden’s position, there

    was nothing he couldn’t buy.

What she gave was a painting she drew herself. She was a bit embarrassed when she gave it to him..

“I heard before that you always liked Journey, so I tried toplete the missing half. I hope you will like

    it.”

Holden had alwaysmented that the Journey painting he collected was only halfplete. Yet even

so, it still didn’t affect its status as a masterpiece. Now that Maja hadpleted the other half, his eyes

    immediately lit up.

“How could Iugh at you? I’ve always acknowledged your painting skills. Otherwise, Herbert wouldn’t

have taken you as his disciple.”

Herbert was the representative of oil painting of the day, and his only student was Maja. However, Maja

was a very low–profile person, so she had never publicly announced this. Actually, Herbert and Holden

were old friends, and Maja had helped Holden before. So he really liked her, which was why he had

previously nned for Maja to marryn. Holden couldn’t wait to unroll the painting.

The painting only showed four people sitting on a luxurious rug, with servants attending to them on the

side. The surroundings were filled with rocks and trees, making it look very elegant. But this painting

originally had seven people, and the other three had been lost.

Maja had wanted to restore this painting since her university days. This painting was not just damaged

like other old paintings, but was iplete. So, she tried to redraw it herself. It took her several years

before she dared to show it to Holden.

Holden’s face broke into a satisfied smile.

“If Herbert knew that you’re not participating inpetitions anymore, he would be very upset.

Maja showed a guilty expression, “Grandpa, once I finish my current work, I’ll start painting again.”

“That’s good. Your talent shouldn’t be wasted. I really like this painting. I’ll have it hung in my study

    Maja smiled, looking very generous.

    “I’m d you like it”

“Maja, when do you n to have a child withn?”

After Holden said this, he started coughing. His eyes were a bit blurry, as if he was trying hard to resist

    the difort of his body.

Maja knew that Holden’s health was not good, so she didn’t refuse him, “Grandpa, I’ll do it as soon as I

    can.”
