Chapter 39
Mansion at noon, only to discover that the other party had stood him up. His impression of them had
already been negative and only worsened.
The office door swung open, and Jeff entered, holding a stack of files. “Boss, we received a call from
the doctor abroad. They said Holden Raymond is preparing for his surgery, and he’ll be back home in
about a week.”
“Have thewyers draft a new contract. The Raymond Corporation is willing to assist the Pennyfeather
family with their second round of financing. The condition is that this wife in name only ys house with
me.”
His voice was indifferent, referring to her as a wife in name only because he didn’t even know her
name. The old man always referred to her as Maja. As for her actual name, he couldn’t care less.
Jeff nodded and immediately set to work arranging the contract. Thewyers swiftly drafted the
document, and in less than half an hour, it was sent ton for approval. After he agreed, the contract
was printed, andn signed it without hesitation.
Within forty minutes, thewyer signed the contract and headed towards Maja’s apartment.
When Maja returned from the studio, she contemted exining why she hadn’t shown up ton. If
he became angry and took it out on the Pennyfeather family, she wouldn’t be able to fulfill Neil’s wish.
Should she send a message to exin or call to apologize?
As she debated, the doorbell rang. Opening the door, Maja found a suited man standing outside.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, hello. This is the contract Mr. Raymond asked me to deliver to you. Mr. Raymond
has already signed it, so you can take a look.”
Maja initially thought it was a divorce agreement, but upon, inspection, she realized it wasn’t. The
contract outlined the Raymond Corporation’s willingness to assist the Pennyfeather family with their
second financing round. It also stipted that she needed to ben’s partner.
This was precisely what she needed. Relief washed over her, and a small smile curved her lips as her
eyes settled onn’s name. His signature was bold, disying his dissatisfaction.
Reaching for the pen on the side table, Maja was about to sign her name when a thought urred to
her. “Is there no time limit?” She could handle a year or two or even five. But ifn expected her to y
house for ten or twenty years, would she be bound by this marriage contract for the rest of her life?
“Holden is about to return, and Mr. Raymond doesn’t want to worsen his condition. Once Holden
recovers, you’ll get divorced. If there are any additionalpensation arrangements needed then…”
“No need Maja interrupted, signing her name without hesitation
Thewyer was slightly surprised, thinking she might have needed to read the terms more thoroughly.
He felt the need to remind her seriously, “Ms. Pennyfeather, the contract also states that once it’s
terminated, which would be when you get divorced, do you have any additional requests? Mr.
Raymond is willing to providepensation.”
He wondered how she could be so calm about divorcing a man liken. Could it be an act? Was she
attempting to win him over in this way?
But Maja had already handed over the signed contract. “I’m quite satisfied. The day the contract ends
is the day I divorce him.”
Thewyer was stunned, needing a moment to adjust his sses. “Ms. Pennyfeather, do you have any
other requests?”
Considering that Mr. Raymond had agreed to the conditions, he would likelyply as long as they
weren’t too unreasonable.;
Maja shook her head and pointed to herptop on the coffee table. “I have work to do, so I won’t see

you out.”
Thewyer felt slightly awkward, realizing that he had been too eager. He quickly nodded and said,
“Okay, Ms. Pennyfeather, carry on with your work.”
As he left the apartment building, he was still puzzled. He had prepared a multitude of words to handle
any unreasonable demands Maja might make in this opportunity. Mr. Raymond himself had the same
expectations.
But Maja showed no sign of holding on. Could it be that she was the one who desired the divorce
more?
