Chapter 396
Luca’s POV
At breakfast, it thankfully wasn’t awkward.
There was silence, a whole lot of it, but it wasn’t ufortable.
I had finally thrown a shirt on while the table had been getting set, and now, here I was, sitting at the
table with Sofia and eating breakfast at early noon.
It’s been a whole long since Ist had breakfast with her, and I silently berated myself over how I had
let this thing between us to drag out.
There was none of the usual giggles that would be echoing around the table as we eat and flirt, like we
usually do back then. Now, none of that was happening. The only thing that’s echoing around the
dining room is the lights sounds of our cutleries meeting the tes.
Although the silence wasn’t ufortable or awkward, I’d still like it if we were talking a little.
I subtly nced up at Sofia. She was gingerly cutting into her pancake and as she slip it into her
mouth, her eyes caught mine and color instantly rushed into her cheeks, and then she averted her
gaze and reached for her orange juice to take a lomg gulp from.
I guess some things do never change, which I was extremely d about.
It didn’t take long for me to attempt making some conversation.
“Did you sleep well?” I asked and mentally pped myself over the head.
What kind of dumb question was that, especially when I could still remember the conversation we had
signs enough that she didn’t sleep well.
She nced at me for a moment before shrugging a little.
“Yeah, I did. Thank you. How about you?”
Her response sounded so fake and formal, making me regret asking that question once again.
“I slept well too.” I offered and she hummed. “That’s nice.”
“Although, I didn’t see you in bed when I woke up this morning.” I added without even thinking the
sentence through.
Sofia paused the pancake she was about to insert into her mouth midway. She regarded me for a few
seconds before cing her fork down.
“That doesn’t happen anymore.” She stated in a soft but audible voice and I swallowed while nodding
my head.
“Yeah, it doesn’t.”
She shook her head and gestured around a little with her hands as she continued.
“I mean, it doesn’t happen between us any longer, like it used to before. I don’t remember thest time I
woke up with you beside me, even on Sundays. Why should you expect me to still stay beside you until
you wake up this morning? Especially after what happened between usst night.”
As soon as all her words sank into my head, I gently dropped my cutleries to sit up more properly.
“I didn’t expect you to stay in bed with me until I wake up, yes, especially after what happened between
usst night.” I exined and she breathed out a quiet “okay.”
“But I wasn’t lying, was I? Things are no longer the same between us, like they used to be.” She
pointed out.
I shook my head on a small exhale. “No, you weren’t lying. You’re absolutely right. Which is why I want
us to have a talk today, after breakfast.”
“Okay.” Sofia responded after a few seconds of staring at me in silence. She got to her feet almost
immediately after that, emptied her ss, and then she pushed back her chair.
She has only eaten about a pancake out of the four pancakes on her te.
“You’re done eating?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yeah, I am. I don’t really feel hungry. I’ll just head upstairs now.”

I didn’t bother to stop her, or to try to convince her to eat, because that would just make me out into an
hypocrite, seeing as I’ve barely touched my own pancakes, and I also wasn’t feeling hungry.
I ended up pushing my seat away and existing the dining room as well, heading upstairs, a few minutes
after Sofia did.
I slid into the bedroom and firmly shut the door behind me. Sofia was standing across the other side of
her room, petting her fingers over therge head of her stuffie.
“Is the conversationmencing now?” She asked without ncing back at me and I leaned against
the door with my arms folded.
“If you want it to.”
“I don’t. I feel too nervous right now.” She responded almost immediately, without missing a beat.
After a few minutes, she turned towards me and shrugged her shoulders. “I think I’m gonna take a
shower first.”
“Go ahead.” I encouraged, because I wanted her to be as rxed as possible for the conversation.
Before stepping into the bathroom, she paused to stare at me for a few moments.
“Even though it wasn’t obvious enough, you should have been able to tell that you hurt me.”
And then she stepped into the bathroom, quietly shutting the door behind her.
Of course I did knew that. I knew damn well that I hurt her, and I can’t help but feel extremely bad about
that.
I decided to stay in bed until she’s done.
The sound of the water running managed to make me keep thinking about her in the shower over and
over again, even though I tried to fight it.
She emerged from the bathroom some minutester, wrapped in a fluffy white towel, and even though I
tried not to stare, I couldn’t help it.
It’s been long since I saw her like this, with water dripping down her glistening skin, which is all on me,
by the way.
Her hair was wet and it made her look ravished as hell with how it matted her face, while I badly
wanted to lick the drops of water off her corbones and the curve of her throat.
She went into the walk in closet and emerged some timeter, dressed in arge white shirt and a pair
of baggy shorts. She only slipped a pair of white socks on, looking cozy as hell.
She made her way to the bed and slowly climbed into it, folding her legs underneath her body almost
immediately.
“Sorry I waste.” She breathed out but I shook my head because she wasn’tte in any way.
I sat up straighter and discarded my phone, and then I began to speak.
“So… I did something.”
