    Chapter 349

    James’ pov

It was finally Saturday again, and I was already tired of trying to lie myself that I hadn’t been looking

forward to today since the start of the week. When Luca had asked me to apany him to a

particr meeting, I had declined because there was no way I’d miss spending time with ir today,

and also because Luca could do well without me.

As I got dressed up that evening, I briefly considered dressing casually this time, but then did I want her

to stop her jabs at my suits? Absolutely not, and so I dressed in one of my numerous suits and a air of

suits to match. It wasn’t long before I was leaving the house and driving towards her apartment. As I

drove past a floral shop, her face came to mind and the thought of getting her a flower, but I was quick

to discard the thought instantly because there was just no way I was going to do that without appearing

like I was starting to be into her, and I had a feeling she was going to throw the flowers in my face

    without hesitations.

As I drew up to her apartment building, I wrinkled my nose as I stepped out of my car and into her

building. A few kids were huddled at the side of the entrance of her apartment’spound and I waved

at them as I walked past them. On arriving at her fooor, I knocked against her door a little, and likest

time, it wasn’t long that she was stepping out and pulling the door shut behind her.

I rolled my eyes a little. “Rx, I’m not going to take any nce at the interior of your apartment.”

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes and then she was regarding me haughtily. “You made me miss my shift

    tonight, I hope you’re happy.”

I tilted my head a little. “A shift? At where?”

“None of your business, let’s just get this over with already.” She said as she turned around to lock her

door. My eyes lowered and settled on the curve of her ass, and I swallowed emptily before averting my

    gaze.

“It’s giving ‘A’ for efforts tonight, your outfit is a little bit better thanst time’s.” I mused and she only

    scowled at me.

“I didn’t put in any effort because of you, for your information.” She was dressed in a dark pair of fitted

jeans and a top, which was ten times better than the ugly sweater she had onst time.

“Of course.” I hummed in response while she flipped me off.

    ——-

“Why do you always love wearing your hair up?” I asked as I took a sip of my drink.

“Is that any of your concern?” She shot back with an eye roll and I let out a scoff. “I was just curious.” I

responded, keeping the part that I had asked that question because I know she’d look so much better

with her hair down – to myself.

“Well, keep your curiousity far away from me.” She muttered hautily, in a tone that sounded so much

like she was indirectly asking to get over my knees.

A move which I shouldn’t be thinking of right now, because it was only going to make it hard to keep the

thoughts in my head PG 13.

“Where do you work?” I asked after a few moments as I refilled her ss.

“I’m not telling, you might as well stop asking.” She responded as she took a mouthful of her drink. Her

eyes were brighter than I remembered it being and the freckles on her face looked so beautiful tonight.

“But I do want to know.”

“Too bad then.” Came her response.

Although there was still little to no progress with her, I was still immensely enjoying watching her this

way and listening to her speak. There was something about her voice that was unusual, it had a low

rasp that suited her whole attitude, that indicated that she was going to have a very beautiful moan.

When the food arrived, we were halfway into it when we somehow began to talk. It wasn’t much, but it

wasn’t bantering, which was nothing but progress.

“I don’t really know if you’ve noticed but I don’t trust people, I don’t like trusting them… it makes me feel

vulnerable.” She had admitted after some time and I let out a small, thoughtful hum.

“I think that’s because you haven’t met someone you want to trust yet. Trust is a gift we give to people

our heart chooses, and it’s up to those people to protect that trust at all cost or do theplete

opposite.” I exined to her and watched as she stopped eating to stare at me.

“Have you ever trusted anyone?” She asked quietly and I nodded instantly.

“Of course, and I still do. I trust him with my life.”

“And this feeling is also reciprocated…?”

I nodded my head. “Totally, he trusts me as much as I trust me and we’ve never ever questioned each

    other’s trust.”

“Must be a nice feeling.” She mused as she picked up her drink once again.

    “Have you ever trusted someone?”

She nodded slowly after some time. “Yeah… but, it didn’t end well.”

    “What happened?”

She refused to disclose any other information, as expected, but I was still feeling d about making so

    much progress with her.

When she had informed me that she really had fainted because of something else and not because of

stress and dehydration, and I been genuinely shocked because I thought she had been lying back at

    the hospital.

“It’s because of a phobia of mine, that’s why.” She grimaced a little. “That wasn’t the first time it’s

happening which is why I’m sure.” Her voice had lost all the hardness and rudeness I was used to, and

in its ce, was soft sincerity.

    “What kind of phobia?”

    “The fear… of loud noises.”

I hadn’t bother to ask about it further when she had stopped talking, because I wasn’t sure she wasn’t

going to say any other thing.

When I dropped her off that night, the urge to take her in my arms and hug her tight because it felt so

much like she had no one to hug and really needed one, but I forced doen that urge because I knew it

wasn’t going to be weed nor appreciated.

But as I left her apartment that night, I knew I was alreadypletely doomed because she already

had me wrapped around her fingers at this point.
