Chapter 256

    Chapter 256

    Luca’s POV

“Exactly, that’s how it is for me, so I wonder how you know when I’m panicking?”

“Oh, it’s pretty easy. For one, you start to tug on your hair when something isn’t going your way, when

you’re feeling restless and when you’re deep in thoughts.” He informed me and I swallowed slowly as I

blinked a little, feeling the hand that was buried in my hair go stiff after a few more seconds.

“I see you have been studying me.” I pointed out after a moment, and his answeringugh sounded so

rich as it echoed into the phone.

“It’s not about me studying you, dumbo. It’s literally just me seeing you do this same thing over and

over again for a really long time, do you get?”

“Hm, yeah I do get, I guess.” I responded to him after a few moments.

“Exactly.” He echoed out. “So, what are you going to do?”

“About the whole security thing? I honestly don’t know yet.” I paused and started to massage the sides

of my forehead in the next moment before continuing. “You know Ipletely forgot about it, if not, I’d

have had the time to have thoroughly thought this through before even going to bedst night.” I said to

him as I nced around once again.

“Well, it’s a good thing I thought about it then, isn’t it?”

“You thought about it? That’s really great, so what did youe up with?” I asked almost immediately

as I pushed myself off my chair and started to slowly pace around the side of my table.

“I honestly came up with a lot of ideas, you know? I always like to have a n and a back up n and

another n to back up the back up n… because this is pretty important.” He started to speak and I

nodded my head along with him before starting to speak.

“Yes, of course, it’s very important. So what did you end uping up with?”

“I don’t know if this would be able to fit into a phone conversation…” He started to say after a few long

seconds and I started to supply a suggestion before he couldplete his sentence.

“How about Ie to yours? Or you cane to mine, I want us to talk about this today so we can

assign the whole thing to people we’d be assigning it to tonight instead of tomorrow.”

“Hm, I guess I can stop at yours on my way from the office today, that’s so much better and easier for

the both of us, I think.” He started to say into the phone and I nodded a little before starting to speak.

“That sounds like a n then.” I paused at the other side of my office and started to move my fingers

through the arranged files on one side of the high table.

“When would you be leaving the office today?” I said into the phone after some time, and at the

moment, I was with a particr file which I had fished out from the pile of files on the table.

    “This evening.”

“Don’t stay in toote.” I said to him and I knew without a doubt that he was going to respond to those

words of mine firstly with an eye roll before finally huffing out a stupid response, which would be the

    obviously wasn’t an exemption.

    “Yeah, sure, no promises though.”

“Just call me before you leave the office.” I reminded him and listened so he hummed in response.

“You’d be staying behind for dinner, right?”

    “I think so.”

“You have to be sure. I’d tell Sarah you’reing tonight and that you’d be staying for dinner. She’d be

ecstatic.” I Informed him after a fleeting moment as I flipped through the file before me.

“Ouuu, tell her that then,” He agreed with me instantly and started to add after a moment. “I miss her

fussing over me so bad, you know? I’d definitely stay back after dinner because of her.”

“You’re shameless.” I informed him incase he wasn’t aware about that yet, he waspletely

    shameless.

“Oh, I know.” He breathed out around a smallugh and rolled my eyes a little.

“How’s her health now? I remember you telling me that she fell ill even though she tried to hide it from

    you guys at first.”

“Oh, that… she’s recovering, I guess? I speak with her doctor sometimes so I know just how her health

is, and it also gave me thefort that she wouldn’t be able to lie to me about her health if she wanted

to, in order not to make me worry, because I can easily get in touch with her doctor myself.”

“What if she agrees with the doctor to lie to you?” James asked after a few moments and I started to

    shake my head instantly.

“No, the doctor was my doctor before he became her doctor, so I’m sure he wouldn’t be able to lie to

me even if he assured her that he was going to…”

“Well, I don’t even think a doctor that likes his life would even have the audacity to lie to you because

someone asks them to, because I’m sure the said doctor would know who you are very well.” James

said into the phone with a smallugh and I cracked a tiny smile, he did kind of have a point with what

    he had just said.

“I have to go right now.” James announced after a few seconds. We exchanged a few words back and

forth and came to some other agreements before finally ending the call. O ced the phone on the

table beside me and puffed out a deep breath in the next second.

Alright, that went well, and it’s over and out of the way.

I started to flip through my phone the next moment, moving through my inboxes to see if there were

some unanswered important things in my direct messages. I found some things and instantly forwarded

them to my secretaries, it was theirs to deal with and not mine.

It was a lot of stress doing what I do on a daily basis, without the handling of social media being added.

I’d have loved to hire a social media handier but I don’t think I’d befortable with sharing my privacy

with someone else that way. It wasn’t even about the person changing my passwords and locking me

out, because I knew we were both going to sigh contracts before I’d be able to give the person the

passwords to my social media ounts, it was just about me being unable to share my privacy with

    someone else that way.

I started to scroll through my phone after that and before I knew it, I was in my gallery. The first things

that caught my eyes was the pictures I took of Sofia some days ago on the rooftop of where we had

had dinner with our friends. It was the first time I was looking at the pictures since the exact time I took

them, right there on the rooftop.

Sofia looked extremely stunning, almost ethereal and I felt my heart squeeze in my chest as I stared at

the picture I had taken of the two of us.

My hand was around her waist and at first, her face was against my chest, making her look elsewhere

when the picture got captured, but in the next one, she was staring straight at the camera and even

grinning wildly. There was a grin on my face as well and I knew without a doubt that it was going to be

very obvious to anyone who looks at these pictures, that the both of us were so damn happy. Sofia’s

hair was flying about in the pictures, giving her a more ethereal look, although her dress and shoes

were the opposite of the word ‘ethereal’. Her dress was dangerously sexy that I was sure a lot of

people were going to kill just to be able to wrap their hands around her lithe body.

I had thought of posting these pictures on my Instagram, because it had been long since Ist posted

on there, and also because there was this part of me that was feeling like showing her off to the whole

world, because she makes me so damn happy— and what better way to do it than to post her myself

    on social media.

I decided against it because I didn’t want people to think we were extremely happy, which would

automatically make a lot of my stupid enemies start to target her even more.

I couldn’t help it though, I ended up posting one of her pictures, a different one entirely, one where she

was in a huge shirt of mine, staring wide eyed at the camera with parted lips and soft dark hair framing

her face, not knowing I was taking a picture at that moment.

I decided to not post those most recent pictures after deciding that those pictures were for my eyes

only– for now, at least. I might end up posting it some timeter.

As soon as the picture gotpletely uploaded on Instagram, my phone started to vibrate with

notifications of likes andments and I instantly muted it.
