    Millie heard someone urging her back to consciousness. In front of her was a woman with a child, both

    “Why are you here like this?”

    “If you need medical attention, my car’s nearby. I can take you to the hospital,” the woman suggested.

    A twinge of difort emanated from the wound on her leg. She took a calming breath. Upon reaching
