Chapter 2888
?
Soon, it was breakfast time. Nathan came out of his room to see that Kraven and Colin had been waiting by his door for a long time. Thetter was carrying his ck briefcase as usual.
Looking at Colin, he asked inly, "You didn''t let that girl seed, did you?"
Colin shed a smile and patted his briefcase. “Of course not. I doubt I''d have the guts to show my face here if she managed to steal my dagger under my watch."N?velDrama.Org holds this content.
Nathan smiled and did not respond to that.
However, a trace of disappointment could be seen shing across his eyes. And here I was looking forward to being surprised by Kerry after seeing how confident she was. I have to admit that I''m feeling rather disappointed. But I guess this is to be expected. After all, it''s a herculean task to steal something from Colin.
Nathan and the others arrived at the restaurant where they began digging into their breakfast.
Halfway through their meal, Kerry came skipping in while humming a tune, looking to be in a joyous mood.
She came to a stop in front of Nathan. Acting like a well-behaved student who had just met her principal, sheposed herself, bowed, and greeted respectfully, "Hello, Mr. Cross."
Amused, Nathan stopped eating and looked at Kerry with interest. He teased, "Aren''t you supposed to be hiding somewhere to reflect on your haughty attitude? I can''t believe you have the audacity toe and meet me."
Kerry asked, "Why wouldn''t I dare toe and see you?"
"Well, you''ve lost the bet you made with me. You failed to steal Colin''s military dagger and thus, you did not pass my test. So what are you still doing here?" Nathan replied.
Kerry grinned. "Is that so? I don''t think I failed your test, though."
Nathan frowned. "What do you mean by that? Are you saying that you''ve stolen Colin''s dagger?"
Without waiting for a reply, Colin interrupted in a low voice, "That''s impossible. The dagger is still lying snugly within my briefcase."
Kerry shed a sly-looking smile. "Are you sure about that, General Dunne? While it may be true that your dagger is still in your briefcase, didn''t you realize that something''s off with it?"
When he heard that, Colin''s face fell. ncing around to make sure no one was watching, he opened the briefcase and took out the dagger. Secondster, he noticed that someone had given the dagger a proper wipe-down. The de was gleaming like it had been coated with ayer of butter, making it look extremely sharp.
Feeling both surprised and angry, he red at Kerry. "You!"
Kerry sniggered. "That''s right, General Dunne. I secretly wiped your dagger when you weren''t paying attention."
"So, the attendant from this morning was you!"
Chortling, Kerry mocked, "Took you long enough to realize it."
"All you did was wipe my dagger; it doesn''t count as you stealing it. As such, you still lost the bet. Besides you would have been caught by me if I saw that the dagger was missing when I went to check my briefcase," Colin growled.
"No. If I had stolen the dagger at that time, you wouldn''t have caught me because I would have taken the time when you were checking the room to slip away."
Anger boiled within Colin when he said, "Even if you ran, I would have caught up to you and ended your life!"
Kerry spat, "You''re just refusing to admit it''s my win at this point, General Dunne. ording to the bet, all I had to do was steal the dagger. So, even if you ended my life, I would have still passed the test since I''ve already stolen the dagger!"
Colin was rendered speechless by Kerry''s argument.
It was at that moment Nathan beganughing.
He said, "I have to hand it to you, Kerry, you''re quite the capable woman! I can''t believe you managed to sneak into Colin''s room when his guard was down by pretending to be an attendant. I''ll count this as your win this time. Congrattions! You''ve passed the test."
Kerry was overjoyed and excited when she heard that. "Mr. Cross, does that mean you''ll take me with you when you guys are boarding the Ghost Ship?"
Nathan replied, “I don''t mind bringing you with me, but I have to make something clear before that. The Ghost Ship is a very dangerous ce. If you insist on going, I may not be able to protect you."
Biting her lip, she uttered, "As long as there is a chance to save my master, I don''t mind risking my life to give it a try."
"All right. I''ll count you in when we''re heading for the Ghost Ship then."
