Chapter 2343
In the hospital ward, Jace was chatting with Tye, who had regained his consciousness after being in aa for a full day. Tye was lying weakly on the bed, and he sheepishly asked, "What made youe all the way from Yorknd, Mr. Rivera?"
Jace gave him a smile and said, "Mateo is my only son. I cannot stay unaffected, knowing he is in trouble. That is why I decided to make a trip here." "I am so ashamed to have failed you. I thought the Smiths would at least ord me some respect as the former deputy governor of the South and do me that favor. I did not expect Nathan would be so arrogant as to reject me outright!" Tye was blushing in embarrassment when he apologized to Jace.
"He nearly caused me a heart attack! Now that I have ended up in the hospital, I am afraid I cannot assist you in this matter anymore," he added. Jace smiled understanding^ and said, "We all need good resources to back us up in a negotiation. You were there to reason with Nathan without anyone to back you up. So it is not surprising that he brushed you off!"
He continued, “You don''t have to worry, though. I came with two of my sworn brothers and more than three hundred elites from Young Knives. We will be your powerful backing in Channing. You can ask Nathan out for another round of talks tomorrow. If he is obliging, then all is good. If he maintains his stand, he can forget about seeing the next sunrise!"
Tye was humiliated by Nathan and bore deep grudges against him. When he heard Jace''s n, his eyes lit up in joy, and he could not wait to get his hands on Nathan.
He immediately agreed and said, "Since you have everything nned out, Mr. Rivera, I shall go along with it. I will arrange for a meet-up with Nathan tomorrow. It would be best if he is agreeable tomorrow. Otherwise, I shall leave him to you, and you can do as you deem fit."
That very night, Tye sent one of his men to Nathan''s house and tried to ask him out for the negotiation.
"Mr. Cross, I am here on instruction by Mr. Carlson. He wants to have a talk with you again tomorrow. He will be waiting for you at noon at-"
Before the messenger could finish his sentence, Nathan cut him off and said, "Who is he to ask for a meet-up with me? I have no interest in that. Get your *ss back and tell him to stop bugging me!"
The messenger stood rooted to the spot, stunned by Nathan''s rebuff.
Colin stepped up and repeated the order. "Mr. Cross says scram!"
The messenger resignedly left, knowing there was no talking back to them.
He knew he would be in deep trouble with Tye if he did not aplish his task. So he rushed over to the Smith residence and gave Sean the message instead. He told Sean that Tye wanted to meet him and Nathan atte Fleur at noon the next day for another round of negotiation.
After the messenger left, Sean was so worried he tossed and turned the whole night and could not get to sleep. Tye was the former "King of the South" and was someone Sean was deeply in awe of all those years.
He was already worried when

earlier. If they were to ignore Tye''s invitation for negotiation, the animosity between Tye and Nathan would only worsen. He reckoned it would be more advisable to meet up to resolve the issue.
So, the next morning, he went to Nathan''s house and invited Nathan and Penny to tea at Le Fleur.
The two young ones had no idea Sean had other motives. They readily agreed to go with him, and together with some other family members, they made their way to Le Fleur.
At Le Fleur, members of Young Knives from Yorknd were already there. They had booked the whole restaurant and seated all their men in the spacious dining hall.
At the main table, Jace was seated with his two sworn brothers. Tye was with them as well.
On the stage, the performers were singing and dancing to the music of Les Miserables, and Jace was enjoying his tea as he leisurely watched them.
On the other hand, his two sworn brothers, Tyrone and Reggie, were anxious and flustered. All content ? N/.?vel/Dr/ama.Org.
"It is almost noon. Why is that brat not here yet?" Tyrone grumbled.
"Could it be he chickened out?" Reggie chipped in and wondered out loud.
Tye shook his head and said, "Not likely. That Nathan is full of himself, so he will not act so cowardly."
Jace took a sip of his tea and tried to calm them down. "Have some patience. Enjoy your tea."
"He can choose not to turn up, but if
he doese, there are only two possible oues. Either he agrees to drop charges on Mateo, or we will make him drop dead here." Jace had no doubt things would go ording to his ns. His partners confidentlyughed out loud, pleased with the idea.
