Chapter 2274
As night fell, the city lights illuminated the streets.
Everyone was having dinner.
At the Riverside Garden, Nathan and his family sat together and prepared to dig in.
Suddenly, they heard knocks on the door.
It took Benson and Leah by surprise.
Frowning, Benson muttered, "Who would be at the door at this hour?" "Stay here, Dad. I''ll go get it," Nathan remarked and promptly headed for the door.
Feeling uneasy, Penny followed behind him.
Nathan opened the door to reveal an elegantdy in a suit. She had her hair tied into a ponytail, which gave her a professional look.
The Elite Eight was hidden in the vicinity to protect Nathan''s family. Noticing an unexpected visitor, they looked at Nathan and awaited hismand to get rid of her.
However, Nathan did not perceive her as a threat and was in no hurry to chase her out. He nced at the woman and probed coldly, "Who are you?" Thedy smiled. "Mr. Cross, Ms. Camden, my name''s Lucy, and I work for Mr. Camden."
Instantly, Penny narrowed her eyes, frowning.
Nathan interrogated, "What is your purpose here?"
Politely, Lucy exined, "Well, Mr. Camden is getting old and starting to feel sentimental. As such, he misses his daughter, Ms. Camden. Mr. Camden had some grilled fish for dinner tonight and mentioned that it was Ms. Camden''s mother''s favorite dish. Then, hemented that Ms. Camden would probably like it too. As such, he has requested me to send the fish to Ms. Camden to have a taste."
Hearing what Lucy had to say, Penny''s expression dimmed. “What is the meaning of this? Is he trying to y the sympathy card since I refused to acknowledge him?"
Lucy chuckled and did not answer her directly. "Well, I''m only here as an errand girl. Anyway, Mr. Camden wanted me to tell Ms. Camden that if you wish to meet with him or listen to some of the past stories of your mother, he will be waiting for you at the Dragon Pce Restaurant in the East."
Penny gritted her teeth and hissed, "I''m not interested! And please take the dish back."
With that, she mmed the door in Lucy''s face.
Despite so, Lucy did not seem to mind. She held onto the container that contained the fish and quietly left the area.
Meanwhile, Nathan followed Penny to the dining hall to have their dinner.
During the meal, Penny looked lost in her thoughts.
When they went to bedter that night, she tossed and turned in bed and could not seem to fall asleep.
As time went by, Nathan knew something was bothering his wife, given how she was still awake.
In the dark, Penny turned to face Nathan. She whispered, "Nathan, are you awake?"
"How can I sleep when you''re not?" Nathan replied.
Opening her eyes, Penny chuckled. "Ah, just as I''ve expected."
She continued, "Hubby, do you think I should pay a visit to my father? Perhaps, I could better understand my birth story."
"If you can''t decide, you should follow what your heart tells you," Nathan mused.
Rolling her eyes, Penny retorted,
"Hey, I would like to have some advice from my husband. What is with that answer? I''m just afraid that I might make the wrong decisions if I follow my heart."
Nathan was amused by her reply.
Hugging her husband''s arm, Penny whined, "Hubby, so what are your thoughts?"Property belongs to N?vel(D)r/ama.Org.
Nathan pondered over it before he calmly stated, "I think you could try to understand what happened in the past and attempt to ept it. You can always decide whether or not to ept your biological parents into your life after you rify the matter."
Penny quietly hummed in response but said nothing else.
In the afternoon the next day, Nathan came to the office to pick Penny up.
They were walking out of the building when they met Lucy again.
There was a cake box in her hands this time, and she greeted them with a smile, "Mr. Cross, Ms. Camden, sorry to bother you again. I am here on an errand for my boss. He said today is Ms. Camden''s actual birthday, so he sent this cake for you. He also said that he would be waiting for Ms. Camden at the Beach Club tonight if she would like to know her birth story."
