Chapter 1868

    Chapter 1868

A frown settled on Hansel''s face as he thought about the President''s proposal. Even Hansel was not sure if it was a good idea for Nathan to wear a mask.

The good thing about it was that Nathan''s identity could remain confidential. That would save him a lot of unnecessary objection from Clifford and his men, which would make Nathan''s job a lot easier.

The downside was that Nathan would not leave a legacy for himself. People after him would only know of the Chief Military Governor, but no one would know that man was Nathan.

"I guess President Woods has his own considerations. Since that''s what he wishes, it''s best to just follow," before long, Hansel finally spoke.

"I agree. There''s no other way anyway," Nathan agreed.

Nathan stayed back for dinner at the Windsor residence before taking leave.

As he was making his way out, he ran into Yosef Davier, who used to be Clifford''s nephew but was now his stepson.

Yosef was driving a Land Rover, and behind him was his bunch of subordinates and friends.Content from N?velDr(a)ma.Org.

He got out of the car and walked toward Nathan, ughing mirthlessly. "Look at who we ran into. Isn''t this the man who killed my siblings?

I thought you''d be wallowing in tears in Channing. So what brings you back to Brimmopolis? Why don''t youe over to our ce now that you''re back? We''ll give you a warm wee!"

Yosef and the others encircled Nathan as they encroached closer.

"You''d better make yourselves scarce before my patience runs out," Nathan warned as he scanned those punks.

But Yosef was not heeding his warning at all. "Ha! Still trying to be high and mighty even when you''re a nobody?"

Yosef stared Nathan in the eye as his friends followed suit and came closer to Nathan, speaking to him in a sarcastic tone, "Do you think you''re still the General of the North? You need a reality check."

Standing in front of those men, Yosef nodded with a smirk on his face. "I agree. Why don''t we all have some fun today? We''ll teach this man a good lesson and show him that he''s no better than a stray dog."

When he was done speaking, he waved at his subordinates and beckoned them over. "Take him down!"

The bodyguards charged toward Nathan, ready to pin him to the floor.

Just as they were getting closer, Hansel''s voice rang from behind, and a stream of footsteps followed.

"Stop right there!" Hansel and Cami showed up with a group of men.

Although Hansel had retired, he was still the former President, and his presence waspelling.

When Yosef looked back, the sinister smile on his face vanished.

He tilted his chin and signaled his men to stop whatever they were doing before turning to Hansel. "Mr. Windsor, I''m not here to create trouble for you. The Davier family has a longstanding grudge against Nathan Cross, and I badly need to settle it today."

"But Nathan is my mentee and you''re trying to cause a ruckus right in front of my house. I''ll give you exactly one minute to get out," Hansel cautioned. "But, Mr. Windsor..."

"Or do you want me to call Clifford?" Hansel interrogated.

"I''ll leave! I''ll leave immediately! You don''t have to call my dad," Yosef replied without a second thought.

He quickly signaled his men and left without further ado.

As he passed by Nathan, he gave thetter a sidelong nce and lowered his voice. "Nathan Cross, you won''t be this lucky the next time. Mr. Windsor has already retired, so he can''t protect you forever. I''ll make sure you pay up for whatever you did."

With that said, he and his men went off.

Seeing them leave, Hansel came over to check if Nathan was okay. "Don''t take him too seriously. He might be Clifford''s stepson, but he''s just a nobody. Speaking of that you''d better watch out for the Davies, especially Clifford. He hates you to his bones."

"I won''t hold it against them if the family steers clear of my path. But if they keep getting on my nerves, I''ll~~~

    reduce them to nothing," Nathan

spoke calmly as he watched the bunch of people leave, without realizing the glint of fright glistering in Hansel''s eyes upon hearing his

    words.

Clifford was the Cab secretary, which meant that he was a prominent leader.

Given his position, the Davier family was now at its prime. Yet, Hansel knew that if Nathan wanted, he could crush them effortlessly.

I bet it''s true when people say, "the

higher you fly, the harder you fall." I really can''t imagine what would happen to the Daviers if Nathan turned against them.Nathan is the Chief Military Governor now, so he definitely has the power to make

    sure the whole familybes. If

that happens, they only have themselves to me. They are simply inviting trouble for

themselves if they keep crossing Nathan.
