Chapter 1650

    Chapter 1650

Cami the First Lady was having dinner with Nathan and Kylie in the dining hall of the Royal

    Pce.

Although the meal was not a sumptuous spread, all the dishes were prepared exquisitely with

    nutritious ingredients.

Staring at Nathan, Cami asked, “I heard that you were ambushedst night.”

Nathan, who was enjoying the meal, answered her with a smile, “Some thugsunched a surprise

attack on me. Fortunately, I wasn''t hurt.”

Looking concerned, Cami frowned and advised, “Please be extra careful as you''re responsible for

the border security in the North.” “Yes, I''ll certainly be more careful,” Nathan

    responded.

“Have you found out who attacked you and who was the mastermind that orchestrated the action?”

    Cami pressed on.

“People from the Secret Service as well as the police have already started working on that. Timothy

Carter made a pledge to get to the bottom of the matter within ten days'' time. If he fails to fulfill his

promise, he will be punished for his negligence and ipetence.”

Cami narrowed his eyes andmented, “Ever since the President was bedridden, all the snakes

and goons seem to see it as their chance to wreak havoc in this country. If the President is in the

pink of his health, I bet no one would have had the guts to harm you in any way.”

Nathan looked somewhat somber upon listening to Cami''s remark.

Mr. Windsor falling sick was something Nathan had never expected.

He thought he would be able to give Mr. Windsor a hand to eliminate all the snakes in the Cab

before the end of his term of office.

Yet, his n was totally disrupted because of Mr. Windsor''s illness. Without his guidance, Nathan''s

    mission became an uphill task.

Although Nathan was the General who was in charge of border security of the country, the Cab

members enjoyed a more superior status than him. Therefore, he had no means to deal with them

    all by himself.

Cami seemed to be able to read his mind. With a reassuring smile, she consoled him, “There''s no

need to feel hopeless. In fact, you shouldn''t be too worried as there''s a chance that the President

will recover from his illness soon.”

Nathan nodded. “Aunt Cami, is Mr. Windsor feeling better now?”

“In fact, I don''t think there''s any improvement at the moment,” Cami answered.

Wistfully, Nathan sighed, “I really hope Mr. Windsor will get better soon.”

“He will. You will stay in Brimmopolis while the investigation is ongoing, won''t you? Doe and

visit me whenever you''re free. Feel free to tell me if you''ve got any problems here. Although

President Windsor is sick, my words still carry some weight to some of his subordinates. I''m sure

they will help you if I speak up for you. So, even the Cab members won''t have the guts to harm

    you!”

Cami wanted to make sure Nathan knew that no one could hurt him as easily as they thought

they could even when the President was

    bedridden.

Those Cab members who were the President''s trusted aides would do their best to keep Nathan

    out of harm''s way.

Knowing well what Cami was trying to imply, Nathan replied with a faint smile, “Aunt Cami,

please don''t worry about my safety. Even though Mr. Windsor is sick at the moment, I won''t be

harmed that easily. I have to keep myself safe so that I can help Mr. Windsor fulfill his aspiration.”

“I''m d to hear that,” Cami responded.

As the sky slowly darkened, Brimmopolis turned into a city of lights.

Inside the same battered house, the Dark Lord and his subordinates were having a discussion to

decide the ce tounch an attack on Nathan.

Grimly, the Dark Lord announced his decision, “I say we do it right in the hotel where Nathan is

staying. Tonight is the night we kill him to exact our revenge.

His subordinates were taken aback by his decision. “Captain, I''m sure that Nathan must be heavily

guarded now after what took cest night. Isn''t it hard to do it right in the hotel?”

Dark Lord sneered, “Sometimes, we have to take risks in order to seed! Now, the entire city is

filled with people who are desperately trying to track us down. I don''t think any of them will expect

us tounch another attack on Nathan instead of fleeing the country. This time, we''re going to nail it

by doing something out of their expectation! We''ll get our revenge tonight! Now, all we need to do is

    n our withdrawal.”
