Chapter 1395
Shortly after, Corentin entered the room. “Old Mr. Hilton”
Old Mr. Hilton struggled to look at him. “Treat Crescent with care, or I will haunt you after my death…”
“Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone bully her, including me, Corentin said sincerely.
Had they been at a different ce, Ashlynn would have pped him across the face, because he was
precisely the person who bullied her most in the entire world.
“Good…” Old Mr. Hilton panted.
Seeing how much pain he was in, Ashlynn gazed down at his hand and reached to grab him by a
finger.
Past memories of Ashlynn’s one-year-old grab ceremony ovepped with the present. Old Mr. Hilton
stared at her nkly, before slowly closing his eyes.
“Grandpa?” Ashlynn’s heart skipped a beat.
“Dad?”
“Dad!”
Beth, Ashlynn, Marshall and his brother called out to old Mr. Hilton, but he did not open his eyes again
and had stopped breathing.
Apart from family members, certain important guests were invited to the funeral as well.
Sorrow had fallen over the entire family. This text is property of N?/velD/rama.Org.
Ashlynn was dressed in ck as she stood outside the mansion and stared dazedly at the pond, her
exhausted face reflected on the water.
“Ashlynn Thompson!”
Ashlynn turned around and was instantly pped across the face.
The pnded on her cheek with a loud ‘snap’ and her face tilted to the side.
Furious, Meredith roared, “Why would youe back? You should have died out there? Why would
youe back to the Hilton Family? Grandpa died because of you!”
Ashlynn stared at her dazedly as a red palm print appeared on her skin.
Beth spotted the two and hurried over to protect Ashlynn. “Meredith, what do you think you are doing?”
“Am I wrong? Had she note back, Grandpa wouldn’t have died!” Meredith pointed at Ashlynn. “Get
her away! She is not a part of this family!”
Beth stood in front of Ashlynn and consoled Meredith patiently, “This has nothing to do with Ashlynn.
Your grandfather hadn’t been doing so well in the past two years to begin with. Meredith, Crescent is
your cousin and you need to protect her like how I’ve protected you so far. Okay?”
Marshall came over. “What’s going on? Why are you arguing?”
Meredith was overwhelmed by sorrow and ignored Marshall. “Do you even have a ce in your heart
for me? Ashlynn is the only one you care about, right? That’s right, I can’t possiblypare to your
actual daughter!” She roared and turned to re at Ashlynn. “Can you swear that your appearance has
nothing to do with Grandpa’s death? Do you even have a conscience? If she is staying in this family, I
am going to be her worst nightmare!” She dered, before walking away.
Beth’s expression darkened, but turned to console Ashlynn regardless, “Don’t be bothered by what she
said. You are a Hilton and no one will dare toy their hands on you. I will talk to Meredith when I have
the chance.”
“What’s with your face?” Marshall spotted the palm print on Ashlynn’s cheek. “Did Meredith do this?
How can she…do such a thing?! Crescent, we will protect you. Don’t be scared. Besides, your
grandfather’s death has nothing to do with you and he left his world with no regret thanks to you.”
Beth took Ashlynn’s hand. “Come, let me apply some ointment onto your cheek. Marshall, get back to
what you were doing. I wille overter.”
Corentin strolled over. “I will do it.”
Both Beth and Marshall red at Corentin darkly, still displeased with what had happened before.
Even if old Mr. Hilton epted Corentin, Beth was the one who had been hit and she would not let this
past.
It must be the joke of the world for a son-inw to beat his mother-inw.
