Chapter 1253
Ashlynn thought about Owen’s negligence. Was it really due to negligence?
There was the sound of a car’s engine, and Ashlynn’s body trembled slightly, but she did not turn her
head to look.
Corentin was the only one who coulde in so tantly.
Corentin sat down on the chair across from her, his gaze falling on Ashlynn’s pale face.
“I shall ask you again, did you see the person who kidnapped you?” Corentin asked. His voice was low
and devoid of emotion.
Ashlynn did not know why Corentin was asking her this at the moment.
Was he asking her because he already had the answer? Or was he merely trying to pressure her to get
the truth?
Ashlynn did not want to say it was Beth because she had some concerns.
She would be in trouble if she offended Corentin or Beth.
What was the point of doing so anyway?
The child should not exist in the first ce.
At least someone solved the problem for her. She did not need to remove the child herself now.
“Ashlynn, I’m giving you a chance.” Corentin leaned forward in the posture of a beast who was about to
pounce.
Ashlynn looked at him with a numb expression. “Why don’t you say that your people were the ones at
fault? Owen did something wrong, didn’t he? If it weren’t for him, people from the outside wouldn’t be
able to get in at all, at least not so easily. Why don’t you investigate Owen instead of asking me again
and again?”
“Owen is in the hospital now. Can you give me the answer now?” Corentin asked.
Ashlynn’s body shook slightly.
Owen was in the hospital, probably because Corentin beat him up. Who else would have the guts to
hurt Owen?
Her suspicions about Owen were confirmed.
From Corentin’s obsession, he would not let go of the matter easily.
“As I said, I passed out at the time, and I don’t know.” Ashlynn was about to stand up. “I’m going to
rest…”
As soon as she left her seat, he heard Corentin’s furious voice. “You didn’t think I would go to
investigate the doctors, did you?”
Ashlynn’s body was stiff on the chair, her face expressionless, and her heart was beating anxiously.
“Had a nice chat with Beth, didn’t you?” Corentin looked at her, his amber eyes bloodshot. “You didn’t
plead to her to let go of the child in her belly. You do know how much I value this child, don’t you?”
Ashlynn froze and sat still in the chair under Corentin’s sharp gaze.
Corentin put his hands around her head, shook her violently, and gritted his teeth. Speak!”
“Ah!” Ashlynn felt that her brain was about to explode. Her eyes rolled back into her skull, and it
seemed as if Corentin exerted more force, her skull would shatter.
She was so frightened that she gasped for breath, and tears fell down her cheeks.
Ashlynn cried, distraught, “What do you want me to say? Corentin, the baby is gone. There’s no need
to dwell on this matter. It’s over…”

“It’s over?” Corentinughed with a cruel expression on his face. “You messed with me, and now you
tell me it’s over? How ridiculous you are!”
“Ah!” Ashlynn eximed.
Corentin was frightening her with his crazed actions.
“Don’t you know who I am? Didn’t you say I’m a monster? I’ll let everyone know what happens to the
people that mess with Corentin!” Corentin was furious.
“Anyone can have children, and yet you want me to do it for you, Corentin . I know how you feel. You
want to prove that Salvatore still exists in you by protecting the people that remind you of him, like your
brother, your former wife, and the dead child! said Ashlynn, fighting back her fear.
Corentin’s expression was distorted, and he gasped, “You’re right. That’s exactly what I want!” He
pushed her head away.
“Ah!” Ashlynn was shoved roughly into her seat, panting in shock.
