Chapter 1128
Only Ken rode in the same car with Anne. He noticed that Anne’s mood was not too good, and on top
of that, Leonora had told him on the phone that Mr. Marwood looked very angry.
The two of them were probably having some problems.
It was already almost eight at night when they arrived downtown, and they only started having dinner
then.
She was familiar with such business dinners. All this had nothing to do with her in the past, but at that
moment, she had to learn to get used to it.
She was considerably able to handle the socialization at the dinner with ease. It was just that she was
certainly not as good as her father when it came to holding their liquor.
Someonemented on it at the table. “Ms. Vallois, you’re already flushed after only drinking this bit of
alcohol. You really can’tpete with your father in these.”
The person who said that was a long–tenured employee of thepany, and he was almost the same
age as Nigel, so he was able to say it without causing any difort.
Anne smiled humbly. “That’s a given. I can’t even bepared to Mr. Trujillo’s ability to tolerate
someone’s shorings.”
“However, other than being unable to hold your liquor, you’reparable to your father, maybe even
better than him, at managing thepany!” Mr. Trujillo praised her.
“This is my father’s life’s work. I will certainly manage it well,” said Anne.
“Here, Ms. Vallois, I’ll drink to you!”
Ken, who was next to her, was afraid that she would get drunk, so he got up and drank in her stead.
Later, Anne practically did not touch the alcohol anymore, and nobody insisted on forcing her to drink
either.
It was a simple business dinner, to begin with.
When they left the restaurant after having dinner, it was already past nine at night.
Anne felt she was floating a little as she walked in the night breeze.
Ken helped her stabilize herself by supporting her gently. “Ms. Vallois, are you alright?
“Yes. My mind is still clear!” Anne waved her hand and bade all the leaders goodbye.
After all of them left in their cars, she got into her car.

She looked back and saw that Ken had no intention to get in the car. She knew he was preparing to
hail a cab himself, so she said, “Get in. I’ll give you a lift. I’m not in a hurry to go back anyway.”
Ken wanted to say very badly, ‘Really? Aren’t you mad at Mr. Marwood? Is it alright to not go home?‘
“It’s fine, Ms. Vallois. I’ll be able to get a cab very quickly. Take care, Ms. Vallois.” Ken closed the door
and signaled the driver to start driving.
The car joined the traffic, and Anne copsed on the seat as her body turned to jelly.
The dazzling lights of the city at night shone into the car.
Anne closed her eyes to ease the dizziness she was feeling in her head.
It was very strange. Not only did she not feel troubled, but she liked this floating feeling very much.
She did not think about anything at all.
She knew where the driver was preparing to take her, so she said calmly, “Take me to my mother’s
mansion.”
The driver hesitated a little, but he still answered, “…Alright.”
Anne was thinking that the driver probably thought she was drunk.
When they arrived at the mansion, Anne got out of the car, and the driver watched
her enter the mansion.
The person who came to open the door was the housekeeper from the past. She was still around.
Otherwise, what would happen to the mansion if nobody was staying in it? It would be abandoned,
would it not?
“Ms. Vallois, I’ll make you some tea for your hangover.”
“Alright. Thank you.”
Anne sat on the couch and rested her head on it feebly as she felt drowsy.
Just when she was about to fall asleep, a shadow approached her holding the tea and it straightened
her face.
“Mmm…” Anne thought that it was the housekeeper, so she opened her mouth to drink.
It was after having a couple of sips that she realized something was not right.
That was because the housekeeper would never touch her so intimately.
She looked up and saw the aggressive shadow bending over and towering over her. He was standing
directly under the light, so his face was dark and unclear, but his ck eyes were even darker than the
night.
Anne did not even need to have the tea and she was almost fully sobered.
She epted the cup and drank the tea on her own.
After she was done, she got up and left. She did not want to face this man.
