Redmption 176
That was rming.
Kara’s words immediately frightened me to the core. What happened? Slow down. Tell me the
details.”
“A group of scary punks came to the amusement park poking for Mr. Howell.”
When I heard that, I rxed a little and was relieved it wasn’t any major incident. Rather, it was just
a group of men looking for trouble with Brandon.
As much as Kara was terrified by the scary men she mentioned, I was not worried because I knew
Brandon could handle it. I didn’tprehend this strange faith I had in him, but I knew no one could
harm him.
“Did they get physical?” I asked.
“No. They haven’t found Mr. Howell. They’re asking around, so they’ll be here soon.” Kara’s voice
trembled. “Maddie, what should we do? Should we call the cops?
I contemted briefly. “First, look for Brandon and understand the situation. We’ll let him decide
whether to call the cops.” I wasn’t sure why those men were looking for him, so I’d let him decide.
“Got it.” Kara asked, “Maddie, will you being here?!
I didn’t hesitate. “Of course.”
How could I do nothing knowing Brandon might be in trouble? Furthermore, I was afraid this
incident had something to do with Chris. After all, he had just left with a warning against Hueton
Corporation. If anything, Brandon would be involved.
After ending the call, I took my bag and phoned Chris as I walked along the office. When I passed
by Xander’s office, he happened toe out and saw me with my bag. He asked immediately,
“Where are you heading?”

Since I was waiting for Chris to pick up the phone, I did not respond to Xander. “I’m talking to you,
Ms. Crown. Where are you headed Xander questioned again.
I was about to answer him when Chris got onto the line “What’s up? Have you changed your
mind?”
‘Did you send your men to the amusement park?” I interrogated him.
He huffed. “What are you talking about? What men?”
His response stunned me. Other than his deed in Jewel’s incident, he had never been one to hide
from his actions. If he had intended to use Brandon to make me return to his side, he would have
openly admitted.
1. it.
Therefore, this incident had nothing to do with him.
Who were the ones looking for Brandon then?
“You better not lie to me, Chris. And stay away from Brandon.” I ended the call following that
Chris called me again within seconds, but I didn’t answer.
When I arrived at the amusement park, I saw Brandon surrounded by a few burly, scary men–as
described by Kara.
She tugged on my sleeve. “Maddie, Mr. Howell said not to call the cops. I’m so worried, though.
Maybe we should dial 911 now?”
Ignoring her, I approached the men and heard them saying to Brandon, “If you wanna live, stay in
yourne in the future. You should know better not to cross the line.”
Nevertheless, Brandon’s face showed no fear. “I see. Someone’s guilty. Is that why you guys are
here to threaten me?”
“Save that arrogance and worry about yourself.” The leader of the pack was a bald man. His head
reflected the afternoon sunlight so well that it could kill a fly in passing.
“I’m not one to act without considering the consequences. Want me to stop? You better do it
yourself because I’m not afraid of you. Come right at me.” Brandon’s dominance sent shivers down
my spine.
